Luther Will Have a Square in the Middle of Rome
Evangelical Focus ^

The city approves an initiative to honour the Reformer that challenged the ‘capital of Catholicism’ five centuries ago. Politicians waited for the approbation of Vatican authorities.

Rome will have its own ‘Piazza Martin Lutero’ in the centre of the city. The Italian capital approved an initiative proposed by the Union of the Seventh Day Adventist Churches back in 2009. Vatican authorities have not opposed the project, evangelical sources said.

“Next September 16 at 17.00, will take place the naming of a square in Rome to the German reformer Martin Luther, close to the Colosseum”, Stefano Bogliolo, board member of the Italian Evangelical Alliance, told Evangelical Focus.

Luther was one person who opposed the Holy See. His following happened because like minded people liked his message.

Trump is one person who has opposed the Holy GOP. His following is happening because like minded people like his unvarnished message.

Love the majority of his life dedicated to killing Jews!

Yeah; if it hadn't been for him; the Inquisition would not have occurred.

Needs a statue in the seat of the actual Church.

Read closer: in ROME; not in Vatican City.

No, Luther really opposed the Church.

Oh; so THESE folks had NOTHING to do with it; right?

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]

Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.

If so, what, besides the apparent fact Rome is now willing to accord a square for the pigeons?

I know of someone who would rather play chess with them.

There are even Catholics today that approve of the practice and wish Luther would have burned.

Someone ---> vladimir998; has him burning NOW!

Everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - saw the need for reforming some practices.

Sounds like America today.

Luther made his gospel so simple anyone can understand it.

Are you confusing Luther with GOD??

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

1 John 3:21-23
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

He spent his last years plotting to persecute the Jews.

Plotted? Right! At the same time, Popes were EXPELLING Jews from the Papal States. DOING vs SAYING, big difference.

He wrote down the blueprint for the Holocaust

More baloney. But be sure to cite the trustworthy Nazi. In fact, Luther never plotted special clothing markers for Jews, or their deaths. Both of which figured in the Nazis and the Catholic church persecution. Interestingly, the special clothing markers may have originated in Islam. I guess that's why the Catechism of the Catholic church has Catholics and Muslims worshiping the same God, they already have so much in common culturally.

IIRC, you already stated you do not believe the Jewish people are, at least, the least of the Messiah’s brethren, so there is no need to ask you the question again.

You avoided answering the question I asked.

Do you believe that the Jewish people are at least, the least of the Messiah's brethren ?

Apparently your reading comprehension skills are lacking

Of course, I'm one of these heretical Protestants that should have gone to a good Catholic school to learn all about the one true, everlasting, pure, Roman Catholic Church that holds all truth, all traditions, all proofs of their infallible teachings...

You know the Church that burned sinners at the stake, tortured people for not following their teachings...

Do you think all those 12 evil Popes will be roasting away with Luther in hell...

...or do they get a pass?

Consider the source. Desperation is manifest in many forms.

Do you believe Josh Duggar was saved from all his sins, past, present, and future when he had his born again/altar call conversion experience ?

If it was genuine.

That's God's call to make.

Don't forget that Lot was called *righteous Lot* by Peter, the guy you claim to be your first pope.

I really don’t know if you forget our previous conversations; but I answered that question close to 10 times already. Here’s the 11th time...

I did not introduce Luther...YOU DID...You are Luther 24/7 on this site. I introduced your double standard and inconsistent argument.

I have a very high regard and respect for Jewish people and Israelites throughout the ages. Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior is from the line of Judah.

I am uncertain what you mean by “the least of Messiah’s brethren.” The Jews were Christ’s ethnic brethren and I believe many Jews will yet come to understand He is the only way to eternal life. Outside of Christ, there’s no eternal hope for any man, Jew or Gentile.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

I have no idea if Josh Duggar has ever been born again, but if he has, his sin has been forgiven because Christ paid the sin debt in full for His church at Calvary. If Josh Duggar has been born again he has been given a new heart and a new nature, but he still has his old nature and right now he’s a conflicted soul.

Here’s how Paul described that conflict within himself:

“18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.”
—Romans 7:18-20

Walking an aisle and having a conversion experience never saved anyone. Just as a dead man can’t decide to live, a man dead in trespasses and sins cannot decide to be spiritually reborn into God’s kingdom. Being regenerated (or born again) is a miracle of grace performed by the Holy Spirit in the heart of an undeserving hell-bound sinner. When Nicodemus asked how he could be born again, Jesus didn’t tell him to pray, walk an aisle, make a decision, or do anything whatsoever. In fact, he said that which is born of the flesh is flesh. Flesh always begets flesh. Instead of telling him to do something, Jesus said something that clearly perplexed Nicodemus. He likened the work of the Spirit to the wind.

“Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
—John 3:7-8

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
—Ephesians 2:8-9
