Please pray for my nephew

My nephew, Garrett, was injured in a diving accident on Tuesday. He sustained a c5 spinal cord injury and is paralyzed from the shoulders down. He just turned 17 in June.

Any thoughts, prayers or advice on how to help navigate this nightmare would be so appreciated. Thanks - Rae

At some point, perhaps the family wants to investigate a ministry called Joni and Friends. Joni Erikson Tada also suffered a spine injury as a young lady. She has since been used to develop a ministry to others suffering disabilities. I’m not sure what the exact nature of the services that are available but it may be worth investigating.

I have no experience or expertise on how to navigate the medical/emotional issues that your family will encounter as they deal with Garrett’s injuries. The hospitals have very knowledgeable staffs and resources that will help them. Rehabilitation has come very far, and continues to advance in leaps and bounds. I will pray for all of your family that Garrett is beneficiary of the very best, most advanced treatment and that one day soon he will be fully healed.
