Not only is this the Christian thing to do, it is also a matter of survival for Russia. With the demographic crisis that Russia faces, it is insanity to promote abortion or homosexuality.

Whether sincere or not is beside the point. The Russians are going to lead the way in marginalizing the USA as a perverted global influence.

Its ironic - the agenda of the 'international left', supposedly so in tune with the rest of the world (while the patriotic right wing supposedly so despised) is going to end up making the USA a global pariah.

At this rate the U.S. and Russis will have completely traded places within the next twenty years.
At least there’s no rainbow-mania there.
Reagan must be spinning in his grave.

I suspect they will. Under the Soviets, Russia had an absolutely horrendous record of abortions. I assume it hasn't changed that much as of yet.

I’m dubious about the Russian government’s devotion to Christian principles, but they don’t to be religious to recognize that the abortion rate is a disaster for Russia.

Another reason for our left to hate them and want to go nuclear on them.

Ditto. Interesting times we live in when Russia has become more moral than the USA.

If they marginalize us as the perverted global influence then good for them. The truth is the truth. And the truth is, we have really marginalized ourselves.

Under Putin, all abortion advertising has been prohibited and abortions banned after the 12th week of pregnancy. In addition, a two to seven waiting period for abortions is required in Russia and a one-time $13,000 baby bonus is paid to encourage births.

Who would have imagined in the height of the Cold War we would end up here, with Russia in the forefront of protecting Christian values.

I wonder if Reagan and John Paul II knew they were not only defeating an atheist regime, but were laying a foundation for this?

Like a pastor of my youth said, "Just because we don't understand God's plan doesn't mean He doesn't have one"

According to this Russia’s abortion rate has declined steeply from the unreal numbers in the early 90’s. This says there where around 42 abortions per 100 live births in 2012 Russia, in 2003 USA there were 24 from what I have found.

It could be that they are just using better western style birth control now, I suppose.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markadomanis/2013/02/09/are-there-really-13-abortions-for-every-10-live-births-in-russia/

“So, in 2012 there were about 42 abortions per 100 live births, not 130. The last time the number of abortions exceeded the number of births by 30% or more was in 2002. Additionally, rather than representing “the most grisly statistic the world has ever seen,” an abortion rate 30% larger than the birth rate was actually a huge improvement from rates that prevailed in the early 1990s”

It has fallen drastically, but it is still higher than the US rate. According to this, there was a peak of something like 280 abortions per 100 live births in early 90’s Russia. They didn’t reach 100 abortions per 100 live births until 2006-2007. No wonder they are in a demographic crisis now.
