Wonder what was on the opposite side of those passages he cut out.
analogy -
I saw a guy riding his bicycle toward a cliff the other day,
so, out of “love”, I let him go and didn’t say anything,
because he looked like he was having fun.
You just encapsulated the “Emerging Church” movement.
They literally vote on which part of the Bible is true and which part is myth.
When the Episcopal church ordained Vickie Gene Robinson as a bishop, our former rector was ecstatic and welcomed it as he/she/it Robinson was in a long-term, committed relationship.
I then asked him to define "long-term" and "committed." After he contorted and convoluted his response, I asked him if the homosexuals of Sodom and Gomorrah that were in long-term, committed relationships were allowed to escape or burned in their first deaths and relegated to eternal torment in their second deaths?
He then brushed me off with a, "Well, I can see you are hard-headed about this issue."
To which I replied, "Give me a call when you think God evolves on this issue and becomes homo-enlightened."
On a side note, I heard yesterday that Michael Sam, pro-football wannabe who couldn't even cut it in the CFL, has just terminated his long-term, committed relationship with his intended. Who was caught "cheating" on him.
President Jefferson also held Sunday worship services in the Capitol building -- so much for his "wall of separation".
I think those are great questions! Thanks for posting!
BTW, thanks for the information from the previous OPC church thread.

Read a few verses beginning at both Mark 10:6 and Matthew 19:4, it is GODs teaching on...marriage.
No argument from me, my questions where rhetorical. Scriptures didn’t change because of a SCOTUS ruling.
There are people out there who honestly think it does.
Keep those verses handy.
Arguments from silence are invalid. Jesus Christ was “silent” on any number of topics as evidenced by the Bible. Does that mean that any sin or behavior Jesus didn’t specifically comment on is acceptable?
“To make an argument from silence (in Latin argumentum ex silentio) is to express a conclusion that is based on the absence of statements in historical documents, rather than on presence.”
Excellent Post. Thank You.
I don’t know about Ben Franklin, but I read that one of Jefferson’s “achievements” was his own translation of Scripture that had the parts he didn’t like removed.
I am a BIG Jefferson fan...but I think that the particular act of doing that was intellectually dishonest.
Jesus didn’t say anything about bestiality either.
