Nature worship use to be the sole domain of Pagan worshiping practices. God, it has been recorded, instructed man to go forth, multiply and subdue the earth.

Strange that the Pope would throw in with the cabal of political hacks that disregard the ‘scientific method’ using junk science and intimidation/blackmail to advance their cause.

As a practicing Roman Catholic I feel I need to remind everyone that this institution has had all kinds of bad popes and when they forget the admonition “My Kingdom Is Not Of This World” .This church gets into all sorts of trouble. But survives.

These meandering homilys of This pope on temporal matters diffuse any theologic message Pope Francis offers. Snowballs should be thrown at those pointy hat supporters of his as well as opposition clearly expressed to those meanderings on any visit Francis may make here.

From 1973. Our Lady of Akita:

"As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests."

"The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres...churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

"The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them"

"With courage, speak to your superior. He will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and to accomplish works of reparation."

If you want to read something really scary, look up “integral ecology,” a phrase specifically used (even as a subheading) 9 times in the Pope’s manifesto. It’s not just a loose phrase, it’s a formal movement espoused by a bunch of dangerous crackpots that seems to be a combination of Teilhard, Marx and their favorite quasi-Eastern guru of the moment.

Many of the odious flakes at the LCWR were involved with this movement, and it was one of the things they were under examination for. Of course, under Francis, they were recently given a clean bill of health and an apology from him. So I guess now we know why.

This may be the first time ever that an encyclical has been used to promote a formal philosophical and ontological system directly opposed to Catholic teaching. “Integral Ecology” - look it up.

Clearly it came from the media twisting the Pope’s words again.

The methods and mechanisms of evil spirits taking their authority over nations and peoples operate very differently in the west from how they gain strength in the middle east, ala ISIS and being very blunt and blatant,

vs. here

Becoming less subtle and using established religious and political leaders and with economics to take us to that same evil and godless place of worship,

Their intended end result is the same.

Yes, but if he gets his way there may not be any world left for it to survive in. Or any Catholics left in the pews if it does.

From what I have heard from laity, priests and hierarchs both here and abroad, Pope Francis is very much loved by Orthodox Christians, as was +BXVI.

Here’s a comment from the EP on the Pope’s encyclical:

Bartholomew was mentioned in the encyclical itself.

“Bartholomew was mentioned in the encyclical itself.”

So I understand. Sunday at the Liturgy we were told that our beloved and highly respected Metropolitan John of Pergamum actually presented the Encyclical to the press at the Vatican. That’s a first. Think about what that means!

That the Pope, the primus inter pares, had the representative of the 2nd hierarch in the dyptyches present his encyclical to the world. The offer and the acceptance are signs of movement towards communion...or so it is said. It is particularly significant in that +Met John and +BXVI were so close on the question of the dyptyches at Ravenna.

“an eco-socialist “green” communion”

Well, certainly “green”. The EP is and has been known for sometime as the “Green Patriarch”. As for socialist, well no, not at all. As you know, the Roman Church has consistently condemned socialism for the past 100+ years. What you are looking at is a form of Distributism, which has a well established theological pedigree within The Church.

I find many of the threads here on FR fascinating insofar as they demonstrate how very differently Eastern Christians view the theological teachings of our hierarchs as opposed to how you Latins (and for that matter the proddies) do. It seems, left or right, you always see mundane, current political agendas in the theological teachings of hierarchs.

Yes, another false communion, false unity.
