it is not the role of the Church to provide guidance in the areas of the sciences, or to definitively suggest new political systems. Yet, that is exactly what he did by putting his own personal political views in an encyclical. He has the bully pulpit as Pope, he has a lot of influence. Leftists around the world are dancing with glee and bugeyed with power.

Exactly. Every lefty I know, including those who have no particular religious belief, LOVE Pope Chuckles - they believe that he is speaking their lingo.
