“The inspired utterance of David son of Jesse,
    the utterance of the man exalted by the Most High,
the man anointed by the God of Jacob,
    the hero of Israel’s songs:

2 “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me;
    his word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel spoke,
    the Rock of Israel said to me:
‘When one rules over people in righteousness,

4 he is like the light of morning at sunrise

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

As we discovered in an earlier study, the best way to get to know an artist is through his or her work, as it is an expression of their hearts.

David ruled for nearly a half-century and experienced the full gamut of human suffering and exultation. He knew what it was to be victorious, rich, and famous, and also what it was like to be degraded, despised, and hunted like a wild animal.

His Last Words, in the form of a Psalm, tells us that he was aware of the Holy Spirit's intervention and inspiration in his life and work. He also speaks of governing in righteousness, as guided by the One True God.
