Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said the "overwhelming vote" against church teaching on gay marriage meant that Catholic leaders in Ireland needed urgently to find a new message and voice for reaching Ireland's young.

"It's a social revolution. ... The church needs to do a reality check right across the board," said Martin, who suggested that some church figures who argued for gay marriage's rejection came across as harsh, damning and unloving.

"Have we drifted completely away from young people?" he asked. "Most of those people who voted `yes' are products of our Catholic schools for 12 years."

This will not go well with the “Kiss Me I’m Irish” crowd

Well, not exactly.

The media (and this headline) are portraying this as national endorsement of Gay “marriage”.

Not really. It is just that the Irish believe in “live and let live” and individual freedom, and that if others want to be together etc then fine with them. They are by no means requiring everyone to partner up with a same sex spouses.

Media lies, must die!

"If that's not Jesus giving the Yes vote I don't know what is."

I obvious he doesn't know 'what is'.

The faggers are getting as uppity as the naggers. Both faction make a lot of noise, but then again, all they have are big mouths anyways! Freaks!

My longtime tagline explains it all. Worldwide conservatism, in actual power, would of prevented this from happening in Ireland. The Catholic Church is not the only one to blame.

As the Church redefines itself, when is it no longer the Catholic Church and becomes just another Church of What's Happening Now?

Lots of folks voted against what Noah had to say too. And, we know how THAT turned out.

“Vatican Radio noted how, in hindsight, it was going to be tough going for those defending marriage against redefinition:”

“The Archbishop, however, stopped short of telling Catholics how they should vote, pointedly saying “those days are gone”—a reference to a time when the Irish Catholic hierarchy frequently instructed Mass-goers on how they should vote.”

Yep the days of the Catholic Church being against homosexuality is
coming to an end. In a few years they will be in full support, publicly. Privately they already are.

How long before government starts implementing speech restrictions? But at least they were given a choice and voted for it instead of having it forced on them.

I guess you missed the part of this article which mentioned that they are gong to require Church schools to start teaching “gay marriage.” Gays, whether Irish or otherwise, do not “live and let live.”

The Church has been formally redefining itself since Vatican II. God will not allow it to go off the rails completely.
