From Southern Baptist to Goddess Worship, Sue Monk Kidd

Excerpted:

What Catholic mysticism does is reject the Bible as the sole and sufficient and perfect revelation of God and tries to delve beyond the Bible, even beyond thought of any kind, and find God through mystical “intuition.” In other words, it is a rejection of the God of the Bible. It says that God cannot be known by doctrine and cannot be described in words. He can only be experienced through mysticism. This is a blatant denial of the Bible’s claim to be the very Word of God.

This opens the practitioner to demonic delusion. He is left with no perfect objective revelation of God, no divinely-revealed authority by which he can test his mystical experiences and intuitions. He is left with an idol of his own vain imagination (Jeremiah 17:9) and a doctrine of devils.

She (Sue Monk Kidd) determined that she was willing to lose her marriage, if necessary.

"I would not, could not forfeit my journey for my marriage or for the sake of religious acceptance or success as a ‘Christian writer.’ I would keep moving in my own way to the strains of feminine music that sifted up inside me, not just moving but embracing the dance. ... I felt the crumbling of the old patriarchal foundation our marriage had rested upon in such hidden and subtle ways. Though both of us would always need to compromise, there was no more sacrificing myself, no more revolving around him, no more looking to him for validation, trying to be what I thought he needed me to be. My life, my time, my decisions became newly my own" (pp. 98, 125).

it’s funny. Even at the time of my life when I was not that religious at all I was pro life. It just seems like the natural thing to be. Abortion seems so unnatural and against natural law that I cant see anyone being for it. .of course getting back to religion reinforced that idea. You are not a Catholic if you vote Democrat. You can call yourself one. But I can call myself anything. That doesn’t make it so. I still think you are overatating m a 52-48 percent margin for Obama. That’s not exactly exactly hard left. 70 30 would be hard left. But it’s your prerogative to think so. and I wouldn’t vote Democrat because of the way some others view my religion. I have never voted Democrat once in my life. I intend to vote for Cruz and have already volunteered and donated it to his campaign. I don’t know how much good I can do up here in New York but I can man the phones.

The majority of Catholics vote democrat and always have, with the exception of 4 or 5 presidential elections, depending on the polls used, and you dismiss the majority of Catholics, as non-Catholics.

Dismissing the majority of the members of your denomination as not real Catholics, takes some chutzpah, but you seem up to it.

I don’t even know what your ramblings are supposed to be about, you vote with the majority of Christians that are not Catholics, like almost everyone here at FR does, well, good for you.

What matters is not the innumerable ways God could have accomplished his plan, but the exact method he chose.

If you can’t bear to hear our Lord’s virgin mother referred to as blessed, you could just call her the mother of God.

well lets leave it at that then and all throw our weight behind Cruz. :) he speaks like no one has since Reagan. He doesn’t care about offending the media or the elite. And I love that. I would like to see him continually in the top 3 and eventually get Carsons and Huckabees supporters. I wish some of those running would do the right thing and throw their weight behind the Cruz. enjoy your holiday!

I already did. By your logic I should be delighted that Lucifer went to war in the heavens. I should thank satan because I am redeemed

Why no, it is not I. It is a telephone operator who connects people to people. In this pic, it is an actress from "Laugh In", a TV comedy show from years ago. Most Freezers would recognize Lily Tomlins picture about as quick as they would the icons and images of the Roman Catholic mary. They are much alike.

Both of them have no real connection to reality! But, unfortunately, all too many people have been lead to believe that the RC mary has power to connect people directly to Heaven. They add to that, many dead people who they also beseech with "prayers" and supplications. In my Scripture that is idol worship and worse, it is blasphemy, since the Roman Catholic cult gives power and privilege to their mary that properly belongs to God, Himself. In Scripture, blasphemy is the ONLY unforgivable sin...

You are welcome to worship any false god(s) that are idolized by the Roman Catholic cult, along with all those dead people's plastic statues. Those are more commonly called IDOLS, and worship/veneration of them defies Scripture, as well.

Good luck with your attempts at humor. That is all I saw! I did enjoy one catholic, though, I think he was just an actor!

Mary is a conduit. She is not divine. Is a conduit absolutely necessary? No. Does it hurt? No. Does it show respect? YES!

“Do you have a statue of your mom?”

No, I have photographs of her. Had cameras been around in Mary’s time we’d have photos of her, too. But, since there were no cameras, Mary is depicted in the art forms that were available before the invention of film: Sculptures and paintings.

The hatred some Protestants have for Catholics is mind-boggling, and is akin to the hatred moslems have for infidels. Then again, Sunnis hate Shiites, so I guess it is not a real stretch that Protestants can hate Catholics.

I’ll continue to show respect to Mary and you an continue to speak in gibberish tongues and play with snakes. We’ll both be happy.

Poor thing to have trouble reading. I said I was a kid and I have never seen any snake handling in my life. I have read about it though.

Do you kneel before those photos?

Do you light candles before those photos?

Do you pray to the picture of your mom?

You see, the medium used to depict Mary doesn't matter. Catholics will still worship Mary.

It’s right here on FR every day. Daily threads with prayers and worship all to Mary. I don’t know how anyone could possibly miss them.

The indoctrination is deep. It is hard to overcome a lifetime of having that drilled into your head.

If Satan had never rebelled, you would never be able to call God “Father”, “Abba”.

Google “felix culpa”.

Google is anti-Chrstian.

Why so many of the Roman Catholic cultists try to distract with web searches astounds me. They have no cogent responses, but give obscure references to their own definitions, which are rarely based in the Word of God, and tell us to "search for the answer".

Scripture is the starting place, and the ending place. It is the Word of God.

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ...
