From Southern Baptist to Goddess Worship, Sue Monk Kidd

Excerpted:

What Catholic mysticism does is reject the Bible as the sole and sufficient and perfect revelation of God and tries to delve beyond the Bible, even beyond thought of any kind, and find God through mystical “intuition.” In other words, it is a rejection of the God of the Bible. It says that God cannot be known by doctrine and cannot be described in words. He can only be experienced through mysticism. This is a blatant denial of the Bible’s claim to be the very Word of God.

This opens the practitioner to demonic delusion. He is left with no perfect objective revelation of God, no divinely-revealed authority by which he can test his mystical experiences and intuitions. He is left with an idol of his own vain imagination (Jeremiah 17:9) and a doctrine of devils.

She (Sue Monk Kidd) determined that she was willing to lose her marriage, if necessary.

"I would not, could not forfeit my journey for my marriage or for the sake of religious acceptance or success as a ‘Christian writer.’ I would keep moving in my own way to the strains of feminine music that sifted up inside me, not just moving but embracing the dance. ... I felt the crumbling of the old patriarchal foundation our marriage had rested upon in such hidden and subtle ways. Though both of us would always need to compromise, there was no more sacrificing myself, no more revolving around him, no more looking to him for validation, trying to be what I thought he needed me to be. My life, my time, my decisions became newly my own" (pp. 98, 125).

* Scripture is the starting place, and the ending place.*

Would that be the scripture where Jesus says he is the alpha and omega?

Your god is a book.

>>“Do you kneel before those photos?”<<

No.

However, catholics kneel before Mary.

>>“Do you light candles before those photos?”<<

If we lose power I’ll light candles and use oil lamps.

Avoided answering the question. However, catholics do light candles before statues and photos of Mary.

>>Do you pray to the picture of your mom?<<

And of course, the catholic chose not to answer this one. But we do know that catholics do indeed PRAY TO Mary.

“You see, the medium used to depict Mary doesn’t matter. Catholics will still worship Mary.”

No, we don’t. Worship is reserved for the Divinity. Mary is not divine.

You certainly would not know Mary's not divine by the way catholics treat her. Catholics kneel before her statue, light candles to her and pray to her, yet they say that's not worship.

Now, a question for you. Why do you hate Catholics so much? Are you KKK?

So this is the best argument a catholic has when confronted with the truth regarding the false worship of Mary?

Name calling.

When the names come out like this you've lost the argument.

If Satan had never rebelled, you would never be able to call God “Father”, “Abba”.

Is this catholic logic???

Adam had no rights of heirship in the kingdom. That is received only by baptism which incorporates us into his Son.

You guys really have no theology at all. No insult, just the sad truth.

And lawyers send prayers to judges. What’s your point?

By your "theology" that applies to all those listed in Hebrews 11???

You guys really have no theology at all. No insult, just the sad truth.

And again a question to a catholic on what they believe becomes an insult. Man, ya'll are some thin skinned people.

They sure do. Baptism does not save anyone. Accepting Jesus does. Where do these beliefs come from? I am very puzzled.

Hebrews 11, good choice. Did you read through to the end. Not one of those people is called a child of God. Not one is called an heir to the kingdom. There’s only one way to get that, and Adam, Abel, and Abraham all didn’t have it.

Not a nice way to talk about the Redeemer. I notice the Holy Rollers often drop their smug piety when they can zing a Catholic.

Wow, as an ex-Catholic I would have never thought that one day I would be called a "Holy Roller" . I'm pointing out the folly of what the Catholics are thinking by praying to Mary.

Yes...I read it to the end. It's why I selected it.

39And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, 40because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect.

But...if you want to see the word heir as it pertains to Abraham and those who believe in Christ...as did Abraham....here you go:

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise (Gal 3:29).

Any believer in Christ is an heir to the promise that was extended to Abraham way back.

Dude....keep the conversation in the context of the Word. Good grief.

Bottom line is that catholics worship Mary as demonstrated by their actions. Sorry you and other catholics don't like it.

Catholics have statues to Mary,

Catholics light candles to Mary,

Catholics kneel before Mary,

Catholics pray to Mary and rely upon her for salvation....they even rely upon her to do things for them that Christ may not be willing to do.

...to be honest, I find the Mary worship very shocking, among other things.

Well then you should be very relieved! Catholics do not worship Mary. There! Don't you feel better now?

Sorry you like to play semantic games. From Google:

wor·ship

ˈwərSHəp/Submit
noun

1. the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.
"the worship of God"

verb

1. show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with religious rites.
"the Maya built jungle pyramids to worship their gods"

You choose to extrapolate from your own ill-informed observations the interior motivations and rites of others with whom you disagree on theological issues. Please feel free to play games with words all you want, and twist them to fit your prejudices. By doing so however, you will only demonstrate to those of us who know, how little you truly understand.

I’ve lost nothing.

Be an adult and simply admit you hate Catholics. Even moslems admit whom they hate. Am I to infer that moslems have more integrity than you?

Just admit it.

I don’t call her that, catholics do. What does it mean to you? Do you think she is the Queen of Heaven. It is not my term. Do you believe it or not?
