The “Church” is individual believers, not any institution..

That’s what was created by Christ and continues to be created through the Holy Spirit and by His Grace alone, not any works lest me (or anyone else) can boast.

This article is from a magazine that bashes Catholic and mis states what we believe. And the few times I have tried to explain things, I get hit by quotes from someone who wrote something 500 years ago who I never heard about.

and the council of Trent is only one of dozens of councils. Some quotes that claim to be dogma proclaimed by the council are merely disciplinary items or definitions or clarifications of dogmas that go back to the days of the early church.

infallible has a limited meaning about core dogmas.

For example, marriage being between a man and woman is a dogma. Marriage between Catholic and non Catholics, or marrying cousins, is a matter of discipline that can change.

And Catholics are saved by God's grace. Deeds just mean you cooperate with grace...

South American Catholics, African Catholics, Asian Catholics and even Eastern rite Catholics hold the same core beliefs.

The external approach to how religion is expressed varies according to customs, but the core beliefs don’t.

If I receive the Eucharist at a mass said under a tree in Chilimanzi, at a mass with guitars ina 500 year old church in Bogata, or in an open air chapel here in Santa Cruz, I am receiving Christ’s body and blood, as are those around me.

How many deeds of cooperation does it take??? Or maybe it doesn't matter since you will pay for all your failures in the 3000 degree furnace of your purgatory??? You will scream at the top of your voice and grind your teeth in pain for centuries???

What was the point in Jesus dying??? Do you have any idea why Jesus died???

You’re welcome. It is human to grasp at any plausible support of a personal belief. They do the same with the much-altered Didache.

Every pope MUST AFFIRM Trent.. it was just not "another council "

They do the same with the much-altered Didache.

It is rather upsetting that they have all these facts, but manage to keep them well out of sight of their credulous adherents.

You need a lesson in culture. You envision a church as a dictatorship where everyone falls in line and obeys every opinion from every bigshot in the church over the last 2000 years.

it does not work that way. If you would look around you at how Catholics act instead of spouting talking points you might notice that.

And why are you hung up on Trent, and not Ephesus or Nicea? Unlike those councils, Trent did not proclaim any dogmas, they clarified some but most of it was to get rid of abuses in the church.

“It is rather upsetting that they have all these facts, but manage to keep them well out of sight of their credulous adherents. “

I suspect the average guy claiming these things has never spent 5 minutes determining whether they are true. He hears what supports pre-belief and jumps on it.

I find this true of human nature in general and not just Catholics. I see Christians do the same thing.

Truth is work!

Sorry, I've already clicked on Catholic links that go on forever and never address the question at hand...Dead ends...
