Catholic College Now Refuses to Play Gordon College
NRO Corner ^ | April 9, 2015 | Maggie Gallagher

Orwell, call your office. In the name of tolerance Emmanuel College is actually refusing to permit its athletes to play a game with Gordon College athletes: “At Emmanuel College, a Catholic school in Boston, athletic director Pam Roecker said that Emmanuel would no longer compete against Gordon sports teams after the 2014-15 academic year, according to the student newspaper The Hub,” reports the Washington Times. “‘The foundation of everything [in Emmanuel athletics] is based on fair and equitable treatment,’ said Ms. Roecker in a statement.” The ugliness of kicking around a small island of Evangelical Christianity in a sea of decaying Catholicism and growing secularism is unspeakably cruel. Expressing your hatred of Evangelicals is not exactly in the spirit of Pope Francis, is it? They should be ashamed.

A Catholic school chastising an Evangelical College for upholding Catholic teaching? Now I ‘ve see everything.

Cardinal Sean O’Malley will be speaking at Gordon College later this month. Will liberal Catholics shun the Cardinal too?

It would be nice if the actual reason she decided not to complete with Gordon was stated....

O’Malley is Pope Francis’ favorite, and I’m sure liberal Catholics will love him. He’s completely squishy.

I am from the area and I did not know they were a RC school. BC, Stonehill, Assumption, Holy Cross...well, maybe they are Liberal Catholic as opposed to Roman Catholic.

Christian College Stands for Religious Freedom, Catholic College Retaliates by Cancelling Sports Matches

“Emmanuel College athletic director Pam Roeker formally severed ties with Gordon College after learning that the College’s president was among several religious leaders to sign a letter to President Barack Obama requesting a religious exemption, according to The Hub. Roeker reportedly accused Gordon College of failing to be in line with Emmanuel College’s mission, despite the College’s status as a Catholic institution.”

Ironically enough, the Evangelical College is housed in a former Carmelite Monastery.

I think Emmanuel is changing conferences. A whole bunch of Chanel’s were announced today. I didn’t notice EC on the list, but it sounds like that.

The church I attend is largely made up of students from Gordon. Awesome young men and women. I'm sure they will be praying for the students from Emmanuel and the nut who imposed this rule.
