Jews in captivity were very good at being captive ... they adopted the mores of their captors and because we have evidence of short haired Romans, there's no reason to NOT believe the Jews at the time were also short haired ...

There is no divinely endorsed or revealed score of music on the pages of Scripture. Many popular hymns took the music of popular culture at the time. It happens today too.
