What difference would
that make?
Does Zondervan curtail its printing of the Bible just because that "missive" (Gospels, epistles, prophetic books, etc.) are a tad on the "dated" side?
If anything, circulation is INCREASED when these things are regarded as "Scripture"
Or do you forget that the Mormons have 3 other books they regard on the same plain as the Bible? (The Pearl of Great Price, which I cited, being one of them)
And in addition to the hard copy, it also gets plenty of digital traffic.
No different than Biblegateway.com getting plenty of such traffic...tho obviously a "FEW" more people have heard of the Bible than the Pearl of Great Price. :)
To: Colofornian; All
[Colofornian]And Mormons, note the FIRST time Joseph Smith recorded this alleged WONDROUS event:
And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nationsAnd now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ. -Joseph Smith Jr.
I look at this the same way I look a the three accounts of Saul in the book of Acts.
Acts 9:
7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
Acts 22:
9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
Acts 26:
13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
Three different accounts of the same event in the book of Acts. All different. Does this mean that the book of Acts should be discounted?
No, of course not. It's important to understand the message the author was trying to convey. These events were recorded from memory later on. Back then there were no recording devices.
Men will make mistakes as shown the book of Acts, but as Joseph Smith said, don't condemn the things of God just because men aren't perfect.
