From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

You will be aware of its occurrence, if and when it occurs, and will regret your posts deeply. Just my experience.

I'll stick with the Catholic church, they have about 1,950 more years of experience that you do....

I posted that to illustrate what it is like when people post hallucinations rather than the truth. People post “Catholics worship Mary” all the time. I posted some other statements about Protestants that were equally true, that’s all.

< Oh, no, no. The Jews do NOT claim the Muslims serve the same God they do. It's the Catholics only who claim Muslims serve the same god as they do. The Jews know the difference. The Catholic Church obviously does not.

If no one could READ the Bible, why were so many copies SOLD as soon as it was translated by Tyndale?

I have no idea how many people there were in the world at that time....nor how many were Christian, nor how many even heard of a printing press, nor what you mean by "many" copies....

>>Freed them from original sin....they were nice little babies....what they did with their lives is what we all do, make decisions, some good, some bad, and live out our lives as such. All are accountable in the end....I don't want to be any of them.<<

Oh no, once Catholic always Catholic.

Hugo Chavez died 'in the bosom of the Church': Catholic News Agency (CNA).

You mean when he said ‘Do this in remembrance of me’?

Yes, of course...now concentrate of the subject of the sentence(remember grade school diagramming)...

the subject of the sentence is "this"....He said do THIS

and what had He just done????Transubstantiated bread and wine into His Body and Blood!!!

do THIS...and then He tells you why to do THIS.....

in memory of ME.

I never denied that...they were baptized Catholic...nothing else possible...and they choose to follow another Christian denomination.....but they were all once Catholic.....you can't be Baptized Lutheran.....doesn't work that way.

Now you're telling a Catholic Priest that he's wrong! Just which seminary did you graduate from? What was your degree in? Catholic Priest vs Catholic who thinks that they know it all...

They were NOT all Catholic at one time! And yes, you can be baptized Lutheran, Episcopal, Baptist, etc.

SPIRITUAL TRUTHS ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written,“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 2:1-16 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Was Jimmy Swaggert saved before during or after he cheated on his wife? How a bout Jim Bakker Cheating on his wife and embezzling millions, When was he saved. OSAS another prot myth.

If you had any familiarity with scripture, you'd know that God forgives sin...

All we can know is what they testify...It's God that knows...

Luk 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

This man sounds like you Catholics...

Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

This man sounds like Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker and countless other Christians thru out the world...

Just sayin'...

“Christ also mentioned the need to be born of water (as well as Spirit) and most who speak of being “born again” believe that water baptism is not necessary for salvation”

Pentacostals to come to mind. No need at all in having water touch you, SO LONG AS YOUR BELIEVE!

Then why do you keep throwing out blanket statements about the literacy rates and availability of books during those times?

You sure act like you're an authority on the subject when you want to prove that common people didn't have Bibles or couldn't have Bibles or whatever to justify the Catholic church trying to have a monopoly on Scripture.

The pope kissing the koran. Fits right in with the Catechism of the Catholic church.

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

Nice attempt at cover, but it was posted as a Catholic fact. From a Catholic Preist. No disclaimer until you were called on it.

Too late to un-say it.

Sometimes what people say defines them.

Own it, it's ok.
