Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Character Studies From The Bible

Moses

New International Version (NIV)

…10and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock. And he said to them, "Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?" 11Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank. 12But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."…

How Lovely To Be in Your Presence!
Your Name is So Hallowed,
So Holy and Pure,
and Your Lovingkindness is From Everlasting to Everlasting!
Why Do You Love Us So,
When We Persist in Turning Away From You?
Your Love is Unsearchable,
Your Mercy Unexplainable,
Your Peace Passes Understanding!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Ever since I was a little girl sitting in the movie theater watching The Ten Commandments, I have struggled with God's decision NOT to allow Moses into the Promised Land!

It is this Passage of Scripture that tells us why.

Even a casual reading of this shows flippancy and disrespect, as well as a sort of hubris on the part of Moses. He allows the complaining and grumbling to "get to him", so much so that he strikes the rock in anger. His presumption is that, since striking the rock worked once before, God had to "perform" for him! There was also disobedience, as God told him to Speak to the Rock this time. The Rock was only to be "struck" once. After that, Moses was only to ask.

In The Letters of Paul, "Rage" is distinctly called a sin, and, centuries later, Thomas Aquinas includes it in his list of Seven "Deadlies".

Upon re-reading and pondering this Scripture, Moses' punishment is more understandable. However, God, in His Mercy, allows Moses to see the Land from a Mountain Top before he dies.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"Moses Drawing Water From The Rock"
Gioachino Assereto

_ ND the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the
rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water,
and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock:
so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts
drink.
And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them."
