3. “The saints can’t hear your prayers, because they are dead.” I beg to differ. Since when is anyone who is in Heaven considered dead? We call it the afterLIFE for a reason. In fact, there is biblical proof that the saints can hear our prays: -Revelation 5:8 “And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.” -Revelation 8:3-4 “Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.”

Just more ignorance .. the smoke is the prayers of the LIVING SAINTS raising to God.. unfortunately there are not many RC prayers in that vial because they are praying to dead people

Unless Mary and your saints have BECOME God that can not hear the prayers of all the people all the time.. OMNIPRENSE is a NON TRANSFERABLE attribute of God..

So only GOD can hear all the prayers of all the people all the time

Ever heard of a guardian angel? Or is that just a silly Catholic thing.

I've heard of Clarence, the angel who got his wings (ding ding), or is that just a silly Catholic thing?

4. “Mother Mary isn’t important; she’s just like anyone else.” If our Blessed Mother isn’t important, then every female would have had an immaculate conception. For this reason, that is why the declarative statement above doesn’t make sense. Of course Mother Mary is important, she gave birth to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What is so amazing about the Catholic faith is the fact that we recognize the importance of Mary, and we honor her accordingly. She is a role model and saint for all Christians to look up to, because she submitted to God completely. Until the day another woman gives birth to Jesus, no one will ever be just like Mary. She is a very special, holy woman.

Only Roman TRADITION says she was born without sin.. there is not one suggestion of that in the scriptures ...

Papists do more than "look up" to her.. they worship her ...HUGE DIFFERENCE

Ever heard of a guardian angel? Or is that just a silly Catholic thing.

We have one example in the NT that directly mentions a guardian angel and that is referring to children. We do not know for sure if we each have a guardian angel. If we do ok, if we don't ok. In either case we have the Holy Spirit praying for us in such ways we can't understand. We also have Jesus who is always for us...if He's for us, who can be against us?

If we do have guardian angels we are not to pray to them nor worship them. We see this admonition in Revelation where John fell down to worship the angel and the angel told him to get up and worship God.

Oh but they do and they do. Here's another of dedication to her.

O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of mercy, Queen of Heaven and Refuge of sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thine Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life; all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To thee we give our bodies, our hearts and our souls; to thee we give our homes, our families, our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us may belong to thee, and may share in the benefits of thy motherly benediction. And that this act of consecration may be truly efficacious and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our Baptism and our first Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously and at all times the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholics who are duly submissive to all the directions of the Pope and the Bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the commandments of God and His Church, in particular to keep holy the Lord's Day. We likewise pledge ourselves to make the consoling practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an integral part of our lives, in so far as we shall be able so to do. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves whole-heartedly to the service of thy blessed cult, in order to hasten and assure, through the sovereignty of thine Immaculate Heart, the coming of the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thine adorable Son, in our own hearts and in those of all men, in our country and in all the world, as in heaven. so on earth. Amen.

And then they will look you right in the eye and say they don't pray to Mary.

I didn’t read anything in the posted essay about Protestants asking their deceased ancestors to watch over them. Can you point out which numbered section you found it in? Thanks.

But these have to be adoring prayers uttered rarely and by weirdo fringe RCC groups of which we have all heard.

FReeper Roman Catholics would NEVER utter such words and believe they are Christians.

Can you please verify that these are actual prayers in current and constant use by members of the RCC? Thank you.

(Nobody on this RF is so goofy to think that kind of prayer is honoring to Lord Jesus Christ. Nobody.)

“Catholics made up all their rules.” Every single tradition we have in the Catholic Church, namely during Mass, has biblical roots. Not to mention the fact that Jesus was the founder of our Church. I don’t know about you, but Jesus doesn’t make mistakes.

The church was founded on Pentecost it is founded on Jesus the rock of OUR salvation
The New testament church had no mass, no 7 sacraments,no priests no statues or prayer to the dead

The mass is not only NOT BIBLICAL it is an offense to God..to re sacrifice Christ over and over because HIS actual sacrifice was not sufficient

The "mass" makes God obey men.. making man the real god

When the priest announces the tremendous words of consecration, he reaches up into the heavens, brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon our altar to be offered up again as the Victim for the sins of man. It is a power greater than that of saints and angels, greater than that of Seraphim and Cherubim. The priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of man—not once but a thousand times! The priest speaks and lo! Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows his head in humble obedience to the priest’s command. John O’Brien / The Faith of Millions

6. “God said to confess sins to Him, not a priest.” This one is a personal favorite of mine. Drum roll please. -James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” It is true that we pray directly to God, and ask Him to forgiveness, however for sins (mortal) we do as Jesus commands and confess it to one another (our priests). Jesus said this directly to his disciples, so through Him, they were able to forgive sins. This power passed down to every priest, and so on and so forth. That felt good.

LOL this author is so clueless

She should READ the scripture before using it as a proof text

This tells us to confess TO ONE ANOTHER ..not one mention of a priest.. there is no eample in scripture of the apostles hearing confession. There was no oral confession to a priest in Rome until 1215 AD..before that it was a communal part of the service

This poor girl needs to read the word more

7. “Catholicism is a cult.” Jesus Christ founded this Church more than 2,000 years ago, I would hardly call it a cult.

No once again Christ founded HIS CHURCH ..not Peters church, not Marys church HIS CHURCH ..Rome claims it was the original church...but NT scripture says otherwise

8. “Catholics aren’t Christians.” The word Christian is associated with anyone who follows Christ’s teachings, and since the Catholic Church does just that then we are to be called Christians. Not to mention Catholics were actually the first Christians.

Yea I know..Mormons say they are "christian " ... so do JW's... but like Rome they have a different Jesus.. and they too have an infallible prophet and a salvation of works

And yet, the title of your post is the 10 Things Catholics are tired of hearing.

The irony kills.

It is a very, very rare time that we see catholics refer to themselves as Christians. Ya'll seem to want to identify with a church name more than anything else. I sense a great deal of pride and arrogance in a lot of the posts that claim "we gave you the bible", "we've been around 2000 years", etc.

Honest, you need to first say what is at the link before posting just the link without explanation. Catholic courtesy demands it.
