And yet it is said that God is not a deceiver. Would forced, selective amnesia be a form of deception?

I am guessing that a god able to create this world, which is pretty amazing, would be more than capable of creating a pretty terrific heaven. Just a guess.

“In heaven no drooping nor pining,
No wishing for elsewhere to be;
God’s light is forever there shining,
How beautiful heaven must be.

Pure waters of life there are flowing,
And all who will drink may be free;
Rare jewels of splendor are glowing,
How beautiful heaven must be.

The angels so sweetly are singing,
Up there by the beautiful sea;
Sweet chords from their gold harps are ringing,
How beautiful heaven must be.”

Those are all things I wonder about.

But, hope God knows better than me.

“Ignorance of religion is the greatest evil.”

Not sure it is the, “greatest,” but all ignorance is evil, and knowing religion is one sure way of avoiding that folley.

Think for a minutes of all the amazing people you will get to meet and converse with in Heaven. THAT will be amazing in itself. ... And the whole place lit with the glory of The Lord, well, that is just beyond wonderful.

Kept ignorant of it?
Hardly.

Luke 16:19

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19“There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. 20And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side.f The rich man also died and was buried, 23and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ 25But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. 26And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ 27And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 28for I have five brothersg—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

What’s even better is that Valerie Tarico won’t be one of them!

Sure. We are bathed in the love of our Creator. The one who loved us, and rescued us, though we were enemies, from a deserved eternity in Hell. We can be with Him because His Son gave us His Righteousness. We are in the presence of the Thrice Holy God - who IS Love.

To someone whose definition of heaven is feeding their lusts - sure, this must be hell to them. It is Heaven to the rest of us.

I'd trade my worldly possessions to have my Uncle's pancakes, one more time. And, the opportunity to listen to his stories all morning along with them. :-)

I have his recipe. I do OK, but mine are not as good as his. I am, however, teaching WBill Jr how to make pancakes according the recipe - his are pretty good, already. About the time my son is teaching his grandkids, they'll likely be about right.

If you think Earth is a great place and you believe God created Earth then Heaven must be better not worse.

After the wonder of 75 or so years on Earth I doubt that God is going to want you to float around up in outer space (Heaven) playing a harp all day everyday or skipping down the streets of gold.

Heaven will be existing in the presence of God in his fullness and I expect Heaven is likely a parallel universe about 3 ft from where you are sitting right now. Its probably as real as Earth and just a lot better. You will know and be known by all that have gone before and you will rejoice in the presence of God. You probably will have a celestial body that does not die. You only die once. You probably will have a job to do of some kind.

Who knows? We will know when we get there. I’m just trying to make sure I get there. :-)

Perhaps the fact that they were loved by you would be enough for their salvation...

Glad I am not the only one who thought of that episode. It sounded an awful lot like heaven in Islam.

Don’t know much about Heaven, but I’ve been to Hell once or twice.
It’s a lousy place to visit.
I most certainly wouldn’t want to live there.
I’ll take Heaven, and whatever that entails, thank you very much!
