VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis named 15 new cardinals Sunday, selecting them from 14 nations including far-flung corners of the world such as Tonga, New Zealand, Cape Verde and Myanmar to reflect the diversity of the church and its growth in places like Asia and Africa compared to affluent regions.

Other cardinals hail from Ethiopia, Thailand and Vietnam. None came from the United States ...

In the article the cardinal from New Zealand, Archbishop John Atcherley Dew of Wellington, is quoted as saying the church must change its language to give “hope and encouragement” to family issues related to gay marriage and divorced Catholics.

I hope the third world cardinals will actually be more conservative than the European ones...

Methinks the RCC is preparing for a religio/political existence ... during a particular reign ... the groundwork obviously being laid down as we speak.

I wish the Pope would allow us to go back to the Mass I grew up with. I can’t stand the new version. I went through 13 years of Catholic School and memorized every word of the Mass and went to Mass every week for 40 years and that horrible Pope Benedict had to screw it up. No wonder people are leaving the church.......what made him change the entire Mass????????? Even yesterday I was mumbling how dumb a move it was as I say every Sunday. Pope Benedict was the worst Pope we have ever had....and quit his post to boot.

I would much prefer that his choices reflected wisdom and holiness rather than “diversity”.

Many here and elsewhere will agree with your sentiment.

There is quite a bit of justification for getting out of the Novus Ordo and finding a Traditional chapel that is obedient to the true doctrine of the one holy Catholic apostolic church. God does not want you living under the thumb of heretics.

In fact the pope (Pius V) forbade that anyone should ever change the Mass, so how can John XIII or Paul VI or JPII or BXVI defy this among other doctrines such as eucumenism and changing the words of consecration to invalidate the sacrament and protestantize it?! Catholic doctrine does not change. Jesus Christ is the same today tomorrow and forever.

Be relieved to know that assuredly Pope Pius V allows you to go back to the Mass you grew up with. Locate a good traditional independant Catholic chapel and seek God’s will there. Some are more perfect than others, but what you find will likely be far more safe than the Novus Ordo heresy.

See Tradition in Action website for more.

Well, the “RCC” certainly isn’t preparing for it, and there are many Catholics who are freaked out by this world-government “Pope” who seems to believe he’s just been handed the reins of a giant NGO directed at promoting crazy progressivist causes. Wait till his encyclical on the environment comes out.

One of his advisors is Leonardo Boff, who was forbidden to publish by the Vatican back in better days and left the priesthood - he’s now living in Brazil with his wife or girlfriend, I’m not sure which, and had been completely marginalized by BXVI. Even the sometimes goofy JPII cast him out. But he’s back now, and he and his ilk have the perfect hand puppet in the egotistical Obama-clone now in the Vatican.

I think this pope is hard at work destroying what’s left of the RCC.

I am with you. The rewrite of the Roman Missal from a couple of years ago is horrible! Filled with incomprehensible, archaic, obsolete words like “consubstantial”. Actual participation at Mass has dropped tremendously as they scrapped prayers people knew by heart for decades, and the congregants are no longer confident that they are speaking the right words. Our biggest challenge is keeping the young engaged, which they sure as heck won’t be if we speak to them in undecipherable language.

The one that gets me is the last piece of the Eucharistic Prayer. “I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” Not even biblical. In Matthew 8:8 the centurion was clearly asking fro a physical healing. In changing this the Church is trying to deny they take place. We must not monkey with the text of Scripture.

Note that the media wrote this article, not the Pope.

I vote for a return to Latin mass.

Looks like the RCC found their own Obama.

I still can’t get through the Creed without looking at the freaking card.

Go back to Vatican II already.
