The original movie was made in 1972, starring George C. Scott as Patton and Karl Malden as General Omar Bradley. Clicking the graphic will take you to an Amazon link where you can see how expensive even used copies are . . . and, yes, the film was that good.

Thanks for the correction. I lived in a remote part of the country at the time, so maybe it was me who first saw it in 1972.
