You are absolutely correct, Joel Osteen preaches a prosperity gospel that everyone should be wealthy if they are right with God, but there are millions living in poverty all the time and some of them are good, decent, hardworking Christians who love God but may not have two pennies to rub together. God blesses in so many ways that have nothing to do with wealth. For instance health, family, and friendship are just a few of the other blessings God gives. I will continue my crusade against Joel until I am called home or asked to leave free republic.

Osteen is a blip on the screen. He will come and go like all the other televangelists who put their faces on the boobus-toobus. He's nothing and nothing to get upset about.

Do you remember "Dr." EEEEeeeeugen Scott? If there was EVER a charlatan, it was he. His line: "SEND ME YOUR FILTY LUCRE!!!" WHAT a clown. My husband and I would watch him occasionally for a laugh. His wife tried to "carry on" but she's now a nobody.
I remember her because we never her face. All we saw of her was her VERY long black hair, her 6" high heels, backless, of course, and her FULL-LENGTH ERMINE COAT.

Scott is now just a page on the Internet. THAT will be Osteen's future, nothing else.

If you really want to see "legacy" just check out the entrance to St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. ALL the names of the popes, starting with St. Peter, are listed...and they ARE engraved in granite. Now THAT is "legacy.":o)

“Last Sunday on Fox Sports, Terry Bradshaw did a decent parody of Joel Osteen. I’m surprised no one made a big deal about it.”

I would have like to have seen that, normally I watch all the pregame and other updates during the games.

The most outrageous TV evangelist I have ever seen is Robert Tilton. Here is just a sample of his style!

Longhorn

I actually grew up in Fort Worth then came out here to the University in ‘69...
Never left for long

Considering the state of the Texas economy and the state of the NM economy
I made a bad move.

Also I noticed PJ-Comix got in trouble over language recently....
I won’t say what I think about the recent crackdown.

I started college in 1967 but joined the Navy in 1968.

Have you been back to Ft. Worth lately, you would not believe how big Weatherford has gotten.

Its been a while since I have been in the “Metroplex”

When I saw downtown Ft Worth after the Bass brother got done spending his money I did not recognize it

It was world away from how I remember it

Also I saw Janis Joplin in Texas at some big outdoor festival but whatever I was on at the time killed those memories and a few more

I watched him for MAYBE three seconds.
YOU WIN. He is the very, very, very worst. What a MORON.

I suppose that even HE has his followers. THAT is even scarier.

Yep she seemed to have a hard time getting over her younger years there.
She was definitely some kind of wild cat.

This is the Religion Forum on Free Republic which is pro-God meaning the Judeo-Christian God.

The theological equivalent of "political correctness" will not be practiced here: no one Judeo/Christian belief group will be established as the only acceptable one while all others are banned.

Those who hate the prosperity gospel and want it banished from Free Republic are no different from those who want all Sola Scriptura doctrine banned or those who want Mariology banned or those who want dispensationalism banned or those who want non Torah beliefs banned and so on.

It's a Forum - and therefore you are welcome to argue for or against deities, religious authorities, beliefs, etc. on "open" RF threads.

The protected threads (prayer, devotional, caucus) are like closed door church services so that like-minded Freepers can share their beliefs, religious news and plans in peace. Do not disturb those threads just like you would not disturb a church service or meeting.

You should find Bradshaw’s Osteen Parody and post it. I would love to see it!

Sir, although I don’t agree with your mandate, I will honor your authority on this topic. I will not make anymore posts on the Osteen devotional thread. That being said, I will continue to try and educate forum members to the danger of Osteen’s teachings.

You have your job to do, I have mine!
