Vatican rocked by another paedophilia scandal

Scandal has rocked the Vatican for the second time in a week.

On Thursday (September 25), officials confirmed Pope Francis had sacked Bishop Livieres, head of the Paraguayan diocese of Ciudad del Este.

Livieres is suspected of protecting a priest believed to have sexually abused young people.

His dismissal followed the arrest two days earlier of former archbishop Josef Wesolowski, who is accused of paying for sex with children during his time as papal ambassador in the Dominican Republic.

Pope Francis, has vowed to take a zero-tolerance policy on clerics who abuse minors. The pontiff approved Wesolowski’s arrest and earlier this year compared child abuse to a “satanic mass”.

Wesolowski has appealed against the accusation, while Livieres has defended both himself and the priest he is suspected of protecting.

Vatican sources say the Paraguayan’s dismissal was the result of an investigation into the notoriously divisive bishop, the diocese and its seminaries.

There’s a pattern developing here.

Either homosexuals are purged from the clergy or the vile molestation of young boys by decadent homosexual priests will continue. Sorry but it is the job of the Pope to be judgmental and take necessary action on behalf of the people.

Agree. This Pope has been wrong before, but he is right here.

Another day, another pedophile priest that was protected by the Catholic Church.

Good for the Pope in refusing to let it continue.

Any organization of men (including the priesthood) that tolerates or protects members engaged in these deviant practices - owns it.

This is a baby step in the right direction.

Earth to the pope: Do da word “gay” mean anything to ya?

From a Catholic whose church left him.

The better headline: Pope Actually Does Something About Priests Who Rape Children.

And that's why it would be news.

Strange that you phrase your comment that way. Are you aware that there are far more cases of pedophilia in protesstant denominations and schools than for priests?

Yet media alwsys signles out the priests.

Are Catholics being discriminated against?

By no way do I approve of these individual’s actions; I just wonder why we don’t have an article about non-Catholic child molestation every other day??

Can you point me to a wide spread world wide hierarchy that is centuries old who has protected pedophiles for centuries like the Catholic Church???

You can’t say one has more than the other given the way the Catholic Church has protected people.

What you can say is that there is a systemic problem in the Catholic Church that really borders on RICO violations for protecting their employees.

“Are you aware that there are far more cases of pedophilia in protesstant denominations and schools than for priests?”

I’m not aware of the Protestant hierarchy shuffling around the abusers to protect them... Or hiding their assets to protect them from victim claims.

Maybe you could come out and condemn abuse in your church and in every church?

It is a weak argument that someone else did it too...

I agree with your comment about RICO and am surprised a RICO lawsuit hasn’t been filed.

>>I just wonder why we don’t have an article about non-Catholic child molestation every other day??<<

I'm sure you can back up your statements? If you know of cases that have not been reported why don't you just post them? Surely you aren't referring to non Christians are you?
