Boston priest puts GLBTQ rainbow flag on Catholic chapel

In our last post, we reported on how Boston priest, Fr. Walter Cuenin, promoted a petition to have the gay “rainbow” flag cover the Oval Office in Washington, but we learned hours later that we missed some even more scandalous things this priest has done.

For the month of October, Fr. Cuenin has had what he describes as “an enormous gay pride flag” displayed outside the chapel to “recognize both Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer History Month. A photo is below.

Here is what Fr. Cuenin had to say about this in an interview with the Brandeis student newspaper, The Justice:

In an interview with the Justice, Rev. Walter Cuenin, the University’s Catholic chaplain and coordinator of the Interfaith Chaplaincy, explained the chapel’s display and its significance in detail. He described the flag right beside the chapel as an “enormous gay pride flag.” He also mentioned that a pink cloth covers the altar and added that there are also pink candles in the chapel. Cuenin said that he wanted students to be aware of issues regarding discrimination pertaining to the LGBTQ community and breast cancer awareness and research.

Cuenin acknowledged that a priest hanging an LGBTQ pride flag outside of the chapel might be a bit of a surprise, stating that many believe “a priest would never do that,” given the Catholic Church’s stance that homosexuality is morally wrong. He said he feels deeply that there needs to be more focus on how people act outside of the Church as opposed to good deeds and social activism being confined to the Church.

As we all know the gay rainbow flag is a symbol of “gay pride” and LGBT social movements. This is commonly associated with gay pride parades and gay pride weeks, where the following is typically on display:

Sado-masochism Profanity and vulgarity, much of it in an angry tone Homosexual sex; condoms and anal lubricant given out almost everywhere Horrible “gay” diseases and psychological problems The problem of “gay” domestic violence Hatred of traditional religion, particularly Catholicism Perversions such as cross-dressing and transsexual body mutilation An obsession with children and teenagers This is what Fr. Cuenin promoted outside the church in October. One article reports that when one enters the church, inside the foyer year-round he also proudly displays a multicolored gay pride flag, while this article says he has the rainbow flag inside the chapel. The article continues, “Father Cuenin is also a official LGBT ally on campus, through his work with Trisk (Brandeis’ GLBTQA student group). He also continuously makes himself available and accessible to struggling students in his role as a confidential resource. This article says, “Father Cuenin has always displayed a rainbow peace flag inside the chapel, as a statement that the chapel is friendly to people of all sexualities. That will continue to be the case when the pride flag outside is taken down at the end of the month. Cuenin also commented that he takes his role as a confidential resource on campus very seriously, and hopes that more students will feel welcome to talk with him as a result of these displays.”

There are so many things wrong with what is going on there, it is tough to express in words. How can a Catholic priest be allowed to promote “gay pride” and gravely sinful, immoral behavior and remain in active ministry? Imagine a 17 or 18-year-old child away from home for the first time who might be confused about their sexual identity going to talk to Fr. Cuenin for a Catholic perspective–and instead of hearing about how Christ calls them to chastity and holiness, they see the gay pride flag there with a Catholic priest advocating for the gay lifestyle and the sinful, disordered, medically unsafe behaviors that are a part of it. (The matter of the pink cloth on the altar for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and using the altar to advance his own ideology and agenda is an entirely different issue).

This crap from Fr. Cuenin has been going on for at least 12-15 years, if not longer. His public testimony to the Mass Legislature in 2002 opposing a ban on “gay marriage” should have gotten him permanently removed from ministry then. Write to the following people and ask for his immediate removal.

A last-gasp 1960's liberal, finished seminary in 1969, ordained in 1970, long before JP II or BXVI. The guy's an antique.

Who are we to judge?

In regards to elders (priests, etc), the scripture says, "Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear."

In regards to sexual immorality, the scripture says that anyone who rejects the commandment against sexual immorality has rejected God. 1 Thess 4:1-8.

Our pastor at my church brought up that even looking at another woman/man or fantasizing about them is adultery. Even if you are having sex with your spouse and you think about another person, you are sinning.

It's one of those quiet sins that people don't want to acknowledge. The focus is on Christians who condemn homosexuality but will continue to sin with their thoughts.

“The man needs to read the Bible and this”

He’s a radical liberal, probably homosexual priest that is snubbing his nose at the teachings of the Catholic Church. He feels emboldened by the Church’s new liberal pope. Cardinal O’Mally has known about this fruitcake for years and does nothing about it, because O’Malley is as liberal as he is.

So revoke it.

That at least, is an option that non-Catholic churches have and use.

He can and possibly will be defrocked, but seeing he’s been around for quite some time, this situation really doesn’t have much to do with the seminaries now.

Swing’s group was part of the United Religions Initiative, and the purpose of the syncretic worship was to celebrate the URI’s 10th anniversary of its installation in Latin America....”

Investigative reporter Lee Penn, a Catholic ex-Marxist, author of "False Dawn: The United Religions Initiative, Globalism, and the Quest for a One-World Religion" writes that the most ambitious organization in today’s interfaith movement is the United Religions Initiative (URI), founded by William Swing, the Episcopal Bishop of California.

Penn argues that the URI is to a significant extent animated by New Age satanic-spirituality and adds that evolution (embraced by Francis) is absolutely central to New Age theology which is a syncretistic stew of Liberal Christianity, Theosophy, Spiritism, the Ancient Mysteries, Wicca, Goddess worship, and adulation of Lucifer. (False Dawn: The United Religions Initiative, Globalism, and the Quest for a One-World Religion, Lee Penn, p. 437)

The URI has attracted a disparate group of activists and powerful supporters. For example, the liberal Catholic theologian Hans Kung, the Dalai Lama, progressive churchmen from the People's Republic of China, pro-gay Episcopalians, radical Muslims, feminist witches, rich capitalist foundations, the Club of Rome, the Temple of Understanding and the Lucis Trust, formerly called Lucifer Publishing. Prominent supporters of the URI and globalism include occultist Robert Muller (former UN assistant secretary general), Neale Donald Walsh, George Soros, Mikhail Gorbachev, Maurice Strong, Ted Turner, and Barbara Marx Hubbard. (pp.5,7, 23-26)

New Age spirituality relies heavily on the spirit revelations channeled through Helena Blavatsky, Alice Bailey, Muller, Marx Hubbard, and Neale Donald Walsh. Penn notes that all together they form a comprehensive anti-Gospel setting forth a progressive vision of spiritualized totalitarianism that includes:

1. Praise for Lucifer as the light-bearer and giver of wisdom.

2. Proclaiming that we humans are gods and that death is not real

3. Advocacy for extreme population control, including eugenics and euthanasia

4. Utter contempt for traditional orthodox religions — with concentrated scorn directed at Judaism, orthodox evangelical Protestantism, and orthodox Roman Catholicism

5. Forecasting a pending (and for them, desirable) "selection" of mankind, in which the progressives enter the New Age and the reactionaries face extinction. For the New Age Apostles of "progressive" Social Darwinism, these casualties are a necessary price to pay for human evolution." (ibid, p. 7)

Speaking through Hubbard, her spirit guide "Christ" prophesied in 1995 that the Rider of the Pale Horse will use the "sword" as one of his means to "kill those who choose to remain self-centered." (ibid, p. 322)

Strange isn't it, that behind the backs of feuding Protestants and Roman Catholics a massive interfaith leviathan consisting of progressive Roman Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, "gays," neo-pagans, occultists, etc. is positioning itself as the spiritual face of a globally socialist NWO?

What's this "gay pride," anyway? If they were "born that way," what is there to take pride in? Dare I take pride in the fact that I was born white? Or male? Or sexually normal? Or would that be racist, sexist, and homophobic?

Yeah. The new guys coming in are much, much more orthodox. My only concern is there aren’t enough of them.

Preparing the way for the anti-Christ.

The New Age Movement seems to be catching some very big fish of late.

That this stuff is tolerated even for 5 minutes much less 15 years is part of the reason I don’t consider myself to be a participating member of the current Church, but most definitely a full member of the pre-1960’s Church.

The Rev. Walter H. Cuenin, the popular pastor of a vibrant Newton parish...

Oh, wow. I have a gay Catholic relative who lives in Dedham and I always wondered why he went to church in Newton instead of going to the church literally down the street from his house in Dedham. Now I know.

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.
Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” MATHEW 7:1-5

As a student of Brandeis University, I am proud to have Father Walter Cuenin serving us as a compassionate and thoughtful spiritual leader.

May I remind everyone on this forum that Father Walter is the same priest who led 58 Catholic priests in calling for the resignation of Boston Archdiosese, Cardinal Bernard Law, for covering up sexual abuses in the Boston area for years by relocating abusive priests away from their parish and into new ones.

Father Walter is a good man who deserves better than the uncivil and, quite frankly, offensive rhetoric used in many of the above comments.

Maybe it's his giant rainbow flag that's obscuring the view. Last time I checked, homosexual propaganda is not included on the list of Catholic sacramentals.

Religion changes as society changes. Historians have observed this over the past thousand years.

I’ll assume that you are a well informed Catholic follower. So you must know all about the Holy Inquisition, and the numerous forms of violent and grotesque torture that the Catholic Church endorsed as fear tactics to prevent the practice of alternative religions and social values.

Where were Christ’s teachings while hundreds of thousands of “unbelievers” were being stretched, flayed, and tortured in a number of other ways?

Would you say that these practices were correct and in line with your moral values?

The point I am making is that in the grand scheme of things, I believe that love and acceptance of others is infinitely more virtuous than hate and discrimination.

I believe that Father Walter agrees with this sentiment, and perhaps the silent majority of Catholics do too!
