Ted Cruz Tells Brody File: "Real Risk" Of Pastors Being Jailed For Preaching Against Homosexuality
CBN News' The Brody File ^ | October 17, 2014 | David Brody, Chief Political Correspondent

Posted on 10/17/2014 11:28:13 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Senator Ted Cruz says pastors being hauled off to jail by the government for preaching against homosexuality is a “real risk” in the future. ““I think that is a real risk,” Cruz tells me. “Some in the media ridicule that threat saying there is no danger of the government coming after pastors. That is the usual response.” But he adds: “The specter of government trying to determine if what pastors preach from the pulpit meets with the policy views or political correctness of the governing authorities, that prospect is real and happening now.”

Watch the clip below along with a partial transcription.

The Brody File traveled to Houston Texas Thursday to interview Cruz after his press conference in defense of Houston pastors. They are under a severe religious liberty attack by city officials. The Mayor and the City Council are trying to subpoena the sermons of these pastors because of their supposed outspokenness on homosexuality and a controversial LGBT ordinance. The pastors are refusing to give in. More Brody File analysis on Ted Cruz and evangelicals here.

David Brody: “One of the next battles in this culture war could indeed be right there in the pulpit. Are we going through a potential period or could we very well soon go through a period where pastors are hauled off to jail for a hate crime because they are speaking for traditional marriage?”

Senator Ted Cruz: “I think that is a real risk and you and I have both pointed to that risk in the past and some in the media ridicule that threat saying there is no danger of the government coming after pastors. That is the usual response.”(continued)

the homonazis are driving Christians out of business thru the power of the govt so next step is homonazis jailing Christians for not celebrating their lifestyle.

These homosexuals may claim they want to live their life and spout off about equality/freedom but in reality they want to use the govt to make everyone celebrate their lifestyle. Not so Libertarian/Conservative is that!

The left will label it as "hate speech", and it will be compared to that of fundamental Islam; the prevailing logic will be "all religions have extremists".

To buttress their argument, they will point to all the churches accepted homosexuality, and say they reflect God's tolerance and acceptance, the "true Christianity".

This is not hard to predict.

the Truth About Sodomites

The Houston Lesbian Mayor won't need to request the text of this sermon. Not going to shut up.

Jail? Probably not in the near future. I suspect the next step is to attack tax-exempt status and civil recognition of religious marriages. But we can be sure the government and special interest groups are carefully watching the public reaction to this Texas incident.

This is what we get when we FAIL to OBEY God.
For it is written: Those who support homosexuals are against our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
These anti Christ people only bring destruction on us ALL.
I have NO sympathy for homosexuals!

Homosexuality is a "Mark" of disobedience.
Someone once asked The answer is in the definition of "REPROBATE". And the reason"why" is given in the Bible.

God has a cure for homosexuals.

"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect
that God is just,
that his justice cannot sleep forever."

They are intent on preventing free exercise of religion. They hate it. The courts try hard to overlook it. The constitution says “free exercise”. It does not say “free worship”.

In this instance, these Houston political hacks first went after sermons, i.e., “free worship” and backed off.

Now they’re going after “speeches”, as if the statements of a Christian are only protected when they are inside a church building. They hope to have such a distinction to be formed inside the minds of the citizenry.

Under ‘free exercise’ we Christians have the right to speak our religious beliefs as part of any words we say at any time so far as any government is concerned.

Allowing groups of people to define words their own way is the downfall of America right now. You can not be an apathetic people and expect to survive as defined by the intent and spirit of the American ideal.

Freedom to express no matter how offensive to some group is the key to freedom and America is losing this "inalienable right" because not enough good men and women will fight back.

Stupid people think Freedom is free, it is not, you must battle EVERY day for it.

Come on, Rush, Sean, Glenn and Mark, endorse Ted NOW! We have to head of the Establishment GOP now, before they consolidate behind their candidate, and we put up eight candidates, losing the Republican primary again.

We're already past the tippoing point. Only Ted is willing and able to reverse course.

Government at is best is just barely sane, all we have to look at is the news and read a little history to see that it is mostly not at its best.

As long as the Church is on the government tit, with tax breaks, it will be vulnerable to government control. It’s time for true separation. Let’s see if people will support their Churches without the write-offs.
