Church Asks Music Director to Resign After He Married Same-Sex Partner; Congregation Laments

Members of Minnesota Catholic Church are lamenting over the resignation of their music director of 17 years who was asked to leave his position after marrying his same-sex partner.

Jamie Moore served at St. Victoria Catholic Church for a little less than two decades and was beloved by much of the congregation. Several of the church's choir members recently voiced their disappointment over the matter to KARE11 News.

"I think it's unfortunate," said member Judy Janish. "I think people should be able to marry who they love and who they belong with."

June Henning, who served alongside Moore for 17 years, also expressed disgust over the decision made by Archbishop John Nienstedt.

"I'm disappointed that somebody's out there that says somebody is not good enough," she said.

Father Bob White of St. Victoria's addressed the congregation this past weekend and confessed that losing Moore felt like a death in the family.

"It's something no one would have wanted," he said. "But in the end, the archbishop could not find a way to reconcile Moore's decision to marry with the teachings of the Church."

Moore received a standing ovation after White's addressed the crowd. He also clarified the reasoning behind the decision.

"It is simply that the Church believes that sacramental marriage is between a man and a woman, and there's certain relationships it doesn't recognize," he said. "It doesn't make a judgment about that person; that they are a bad person."

Moore released a statement earlier this week expressing his love for the members of the church and his thoughts on the decision.

"While there are some who don't welcome everyone into the greater Catholic Church, I know that the vast majority of people at St. Victoria live lives that are truly examples of the way Christ would live; free of judgment, filled with love."

Christianity flourished in the midst of the excesses and collapse of the Roman Empire because it stood for a strong morale foundation and a belief in something larger than self. This is being destroyed in front of our very eyes.

Given the state of “music” in most Novus Ordo parishes, I would be in favor of the entire choir resigning in protest.

Meanwhile, the statements from outraged parishioners quoted in the excerpt show the utter lack of catechesis among Catholics in the post-conciliar church.

Gay marriage is a non-starter with the Catholic Church. And if he was a music director in a Catholic Church he bloody well knew that even better than most.

Say Ms Henning, would you feel the same if Jamie Moore had decided to "marry" your husband? Or if a female Music Director was having an affair with your husband?

BTW, none of us are "good enough", we are all sinners (those who have "missed the mark" of not loving God with all our heart, mind & strength). As a result of our not loving God our actions are often those that are what we call "sins", lying, stealing, murder, adultery, homosexuality, etc.

By using equal protection claims (incorrectly) to overturn state marriage licensing requirements, the courts have overturned ALL forms of state licensing. The courts have ruled that a license which places requirements on the applicant violates the equal protection rights of persons who do not meet those requirements.

"I think people should be able to marry contract with who they love and who they belong with." (This is and always has been true.)

"I think people should be able to marry be licensed to hunt who they love and who they belong with any animal they wish in any season they wish with any weapon they wish."

"I think people should be able to marry be licensed to perform brain surgery who they love and who they belong with regardless of expertise and experience, regardless of previous licensing requirements."

I parked somewhere next to a car with a “Catholics for Marriage Equality” bumper sticker on it. As I was telling my son that even though we’re not catholic, their sticker goes directly against all church doctrine, we saw the people who owned the car. The “lady” in the dress was clearly a male. It was pretty sick that any church would accept and celebrate that behavior.

Sorry music director, actions have consequences.

Christ was free of judgment? Then why did He tell people to “sin no more,” call them “hypocrites,” “brood of vipers,” etc.?

So should be be able to marry his brother if they are in love? Women can be so stupid. Without gullible, blubbery women the "gay rights" fraud couldn't even get off the ground.

Why do people keep saying that? It isn’t scriptural, at all.

BTW God does not owe us a happy life with whomever or whatever we want to be married to. He has already given us everything by sending Christ to die for us.

The real problem here is this congregation would rather have what they want instead of what God wants.

Judy Janish should grow up and realize that it is not “love” that brought them together in marrage. It was doing the down dirty as Rev Wright would say. Let the guy exercise his filthy desires on a new group of peoples.
