Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

And I thought the weapons of our warfare were spiritual.

Silly me for believing the Bible.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."(Heb 4:14-16)

Great passage! If only Catholics would grasp the significance of that passage. We have a personal High Priest that has been through what we go through and more. He knows our every thought yet has clothed us in His righteousness so we can go directly before the Father. No fallible man between us and our heavenly Father.

Just wow is right. I’m just stunned that supposedly intelligent people would fall for such utter rediculousness.

I can’t even imagine the total disregard they have. Even for a religion that allows images they turn away from Jesus in deference to Mary.

"No fallible man between us and our heavenly Father."

AMEN!

Like the Abrahamic Covenant - God does all the work. Being fallible, there's nothing I can do but mess it up. Jesus is my Great High Priest.

The RCC priest is in the way. The tradition is in the way. Mary is in the way. The rote prayers are in the way.

All of that violates what God has planned for us, through Jesus Christ.

Just wow is right. I’m just stunned that supposedly intelligent people would fall for such utter ridiculousness.

That's what happens when people hand over all responsibility for acknowledging truth to a "superior". They are mandated to swallow it all and condemned should they question anything. This is NOT what Jesus nor His Apostles taught. We are told to "test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world." (1 John 4:2) And how do we test? By the very word of God - His divinely-inspired and sacred Scriptures which are able to make one wise unto salvation. Those who would deny Scripture's place and purpose are not to be trusted.

Satan would rather the world see Jesus dead on that cross. Its the last image he wants in the worlds eyes and the Catholic Church has helped in that regard.

Not to mention the guilt. We know Jesus accepted the cross to pay for our crimes. Some can't seem to get beyond the death and punishment to forgiveness and Resurrection. Maybe that's why they need a pure, virgin queen-goddess.

At the time, Jesus’ father (actually step father) was dead. How Mary’s dead husband was going to take of her in her old age would be curious. His other parent, Mary, is the person whom Jesus is seeking to have taken care of. She apparently knew her son had power, as when she asked him to perform a miracle at a wedding feast. There is no indication that Jesus ever put either of his parents down. As for spiritual brothers, I would say his half- or step-brothers (depending on whether you think Mary remained a virgin throughout her life) who were crucified by the Romans would deserve a little credit as also being spiritual brothers. But as for taking care of Jesus’ mother, they’d soon join their father in the grave. John, the beloved disciple, was the only apostle not crucified. He lived to a ripe old age and would have been able to take care of Jesus’ mother. Jesus knew all this. Indeed, Jesus arranged history so as to make all this so.

The veil is a “type” of Christ. We can now enter the “Holy of Holies” because He opened the way (Heb 10:19,20). It’s no longer an inadequate, annual ritual of atonement for past sins, it is an every day access and forgiveness for all sin (I John 1:9)

It seems they’d rather have someone enter the presence of God on their behalf.

You know I hadn't thought about that angle before but you have a point. They certainly have not gotten to the forgiveness since they still have their works and purgatory.

And a carnal fallible " superior" at that. Then reject the perfect direct path to the Father through Jesus in favor of lesser entities.
