Are Catholic conservatives turning on Cardinal Timothy Dolan?

NEW YORK — Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s positive reaction to this week’s decision by organizers of New York’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade to allow gay groups to march under their own banners initially drew charitable responses in many Catholic Church circles.

But it didn’t take long for conservative church critics to turn.

After initially signaling his grudging acceptance, William Donohue of the Catholic League came back with a revised view when he realized that more than one gay group could be allowed to march in the future.

I'm making soup.

How much dog poo do I need to put in to make it dog poo soup? A pound? An ounce? A gram? If I put so much as a milligram of dog poo in the soup, is it still dog poo soup?

Does it matter how many 'gay pride' units march in the parade if there are any at all?

Dolan was conservative only in comparison to Rembert Weakland, whom he replaced. He did some good in that diocese, and I think he was appointed to New York because he smiles a lot and looked plump and friendly; Cdl Egan, whom he was replacing, was considered very frosty and aloof.

Cdl O’Connor had also been warm and popular with New Yorkers, (but he was also really serious about Church teaching and was hated by gays).

Usually when a see comes vacant, a list of 3 names is given to Rome. The names are identified by the bishops’ conferences, passed to the nuncio for review, and then submitted to Rome.

The problem really lies with the bishops’ conferences, which are always dominated by liberals, many of whom have spent years crushing good priests and preventing them from becoming bishops, and stuffing the episcopate with like-minded people.

And that problem goes back to Paul VI, who appointed the “boy bishops,” that is, young liberal bishops who were young enough to hold onto power and destructively influence the Church for over 40 years - and choose their successors.

Our bishops—at least the ones who actually speak in public—are MORAL IMBECILES. They are Catholic bishops who are not merely personally corrupt or cowardly. They have repeatedly declared themselves as positively in favor of MORTAL SIN. And who appointed these moral imbeciles? The Popes.

I would argue then that they aren't Catholic at all. It is one thing to commit mortal sins. It is quite another to be in favor of/encourage mortal sins.

For every 50 Dolans you have one Cardinal Burke! And that my friend is what is wrong with the American Catholic Church. Live the faith the way you know it is meant to be lived and please don’t look for spiritual guidance from democrat operatives, and that’s what most American bishops have become, led by Dolan, who should be ashamed of himself for his many anti-Catholic actions.

“Catholics get a LOT of money thru social programs.”

I’m a Catholic, and I don’t get a penny through social programs.

What are these programs, and how do Catholics get money through them?

“led by Dolan, who should be ashamed of himself for his many anti-Catholic actions.”

There is a fact that needs to be before the public’s eye at all times: the Soviets spent large amounts of time and treasure infiltrating Catholic seminaries with homosexuals and commies. Commie fags, as we used to say.

These commie fags later had influence over who was admitted to seminaries, and they took care to admit as many commie fags as they could.

If the October Revolution had failed, Dolan would not be a priest. His homosexuality would have kept him out of the seminary, instead of greasing the skids for him.

“How much dog poo do I need to put in to make it dog poo soup?”

If you have a bucket of sewage and a bucket of clean water, you still have one bucket of clean water. If you take any amount of sewage and put it in the clean bucket, you now have two buckets of sewage.

What are these (social) programs, and how do Catholics get money through them?

do a little research

“Religious organizations also receive large infusions of federal funds. Catholic Charities USA receives more than half of its funding each year ($554 million in 2010) from federal grants.”

“Catholic Charities USA”

Perhaps you meant to say that Catholic Charities USA receives money rather than Catholics receive money.

Catholic Charities USA does not restrict itself to Catholics, nor, best I can tell, does it even favor Catholics in its charitable activities.

Catholic Charities is for anyone in need. They do not ask you your faith. The Salvation Army also received Federal money. All faith-based charities do.

By the way the Knights of Columbus does not get a cent from the Federal government and has no overhead. Every penny goes to helping those in need.

True...Baptist Govt money should be cut off as well.

But there are not as many Baptist hospitals, schools, etc. as Catholics have. And much of that is funded by Govt.

The “poverty” gospel of finances is not the centerpiece of the New Testament, but rather the grave spiritual poverty

Correct. Seems that too many Catholics are more motivated by economic concerns than spiritual. And that inevitably leads to socialism.
