Essentially what this new Executive Order does is amend the preexisting Equal Employment Opportunity Executive Orders No. 11478 (for federal gov’t) and No. 11246 (for federal Contractors and Subcontractors and federally-assisted Construction Contractors and Subcontractors). Where those previously Executive Orders once prohibited employment discrimination on the basis of “race, color, religion, sex, or national origin,” will now include “sexual orientation and gender identity.”
While there is a just issue to be made as to why ‘voluntary’ behaviors would be added to federal non-discrimination law, or the addition of a new race/class/species of people of people (called LGBTQ) that scientists have yet to prove actually uniquely-exists, Barack Obama knows this Executive Order isn’t worth the piece of paper it was written. It was pure posturing on his part. The reason I say that is because, according to a report by the liberal Williams Institute at UCLA not only do most federal contractors already not consider sexuality in employment, but in the free-market, as of May 2014, 96% of the top 50 Fortune 500 companies already voluntarily prohibit discrimination based on sexual-choice. 70% prohibit discrimination based on gender-identity-choice.
I’m well aware of all the talk in Christian circles is that this Executive Order would prevent religious organizations with federal contracts from requiring workers to adhere to the tenets of their religious beliefs, but I think that the people who are saying this are overlooking the Supreme Court’s decision in Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Luther Church and School v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In that ruling the Supreme Court unanimously held that the First Amendment precludes the application of federal employment-discrimination laws to religious institutions’ personnel decisions involving workers with religious duties. That ruling of the Supreme Court is non-affected by Obama’s amendments. The Ministerial Exception is not trumped by this Executive Order.

This new EO just means companies will have to work even harder to prove they aren’t discriminating. Innocent until proven guilty is a joke to these EO’s.
Perhaps because Muslim organizations don’t make federal contracts to help others.
My concern was/is that the mulitude of faith-based (Christian) organizations that help people, and accept federal grants - including many after-school programs, etc. will have to now hire LGBQTetc
That not only opens a big can of worms (think about some of this population in day care and after school programs), but adds administrative burden and supervision to already overwhelmed/understaffed nonprofits.
All of this detracts from the mission of the organization.
Muslims take care of Muslims only

I honestly don’t understand why religious organizations take money from the government, even when it used to help people. We should give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, not take from Caesar what is Caesar’s so that Caesar can control everything we do.
What an idiot. If even the USCCB, the most leftist and squishiest group in the universe, is freaked out by it and issued a formal statement criticizing it and is probably planning a legal challenge, I’d say there’s something to be worried about.
No, “federal contractors” does not affect only those “employed under the executive branch.” That has nothing to do with it. “Federal contractor” is such a broad category now that they don’t really have to be working for anything even remotely related to the government, but simply something contracted through some program that receives some trivial sum from the US government.
The Church doesn’t do a lot of these programs now, mostly because the abortion and gay lobby drove it out of adoption services and other related things a few years ago. About the only thing the Church gets from the Feds is what all non-profits get, a tax break.
But even if you don’t take any money, “federal contractor” restrictions are carried on to the local governments and even the private sector immediately because nobody wants to accidentally run afoul of the US government. This has a much wider reach than many people understand.
So how does this affect Christian colleges that accept federal aid like federal student loans? Will they be forced to hire gay professors?
So we’re just supposed to trust that the courts and all future Supreme Courts will interpret the First Amendment to carve exceptions to this draconian law? Somehow, I don’t find that too comforting — who knows what leftist lunatics will be appointed to the Supreme Court in the future. I think conservatives and religious believers are right to criticize the lack of a religious exemption, as well as the utterly unworkable and destabilizing concept of “gender” based on anybody’s whim as to their “identity” notwithstanding the objective facts of one’s biological sex. We should not simply accept the government’s imposition of an ideology of “gender” and should oppose it without letup. Manif pour tous!
The Religious Liberty enjoyed by religious institutions, organizations & churches is premised legitimately and completely upon individual's God given unalienable rights NOT in spite of such or in equal measure with such. Individual rights can NOT be surrendered or subjugated second class status because approved collectives agree with government to such an arrangement.
To exempt some to practice under certain limitations what is God given right not to be infringed upon by government is in effect an infringement upon all.
What this EO does is state that the federal government will now engage in its own form of discrimination. In as much as this is in conflict with the Free Exercise clause of the First Amendment it is clearly unconstitutional and Obama should be called out on it. The government, federal or state, has no business in dictating how a free society organizes itself. Pave the roads and then shut up!

Nonprofit boards and administrative leadership tend to be ignorant to the strings attached to government grants (which are in fact, contracts) and the huge demand on administrative resources in order to report every little thing, to the government.
I prefer faith based organizations develop and expand the number of stakeholders who are truly aligned with the organization’s mission.
