O’Malley is sympatico with Francis. They are very close with similar viewpoints. O’Malley is a Franciscan and even though he is a Jesuit Francis took the name to honor Bernadone, not Xavier. Now I have great feeling for his life and work and my reading of Bernadone is like my reading of Christ. The call to aid those in need is individual. I don’t believe there is a place registered in heaven because I voted to do good with someone else’s wealth. The modern Church sees the need to do good but also sees the power of the state as being the tool to do good for the greatest number. What the Church has not yet learned is that that power can and will be turned against the Church to replace God with the State. Watch Clavell’s brilliant Children’s Story to see how easy that can and will be done.
I’m not Catholic, but I remember Cardinal O’Malley as being seriously considered for Pope when Francis was chosen last time.
