Thank you “Seek” for all that information, but that’s just the translation for the word “God”.

I was more interested in what they put for “LORD” - (all caps).
Wherever you see “LORD” in all caps, that is where His sacred name is to be as in “YHWH/YHVH”.

I have a arabic bible here but it is in that cursive script and it is very difficult to understand. I guess I will give it another try and figure out how their numbering system works too.

I was just curious, and I guess I could keep digging to see what they use in all these different languages when they transliterate the name “LORD” from our scriptures, and not translate it.

Because to put “God” in both places wherever it says “LORD”, just doesn’t seem right since that is where His sacred name should be and not just the word for “God”.

I think others use “Adonai” in place of the “YHWH/YHVH”, because the name is too sacred to speak in vain.

Thanks again for addressing this and I’m going to do my best to understand this arabic bible. I’ve given one away, but I want to hold onto this one until I get more.

The Malay and Indonsian language translate the word LORD to — TUHAN.

That is their ORIGINAL term for the word — LORD.

It also has the connotation of the Supreme Being.

Hence, this is how they translate the Hebrew Shema :

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

From Deuteronomy.

“6:4 Dengarlah, hai orang Israel: TUHAN itu ALLAH kita, TUHAN itu esa!

6:5 Kasihilah TUHAN, Allahmu, dengan segenap hatimu dan dengan segenap jiwamu dan dengan segenap kekuatanmu.

The point is — they have the word TUHAN for Lord and they have the word — Allah for God.
