Yet, the RCC teaches its members to pray to Mary. Indeed, there are segments of the RCC devoted to the study of Mary. ...a classic case of a poster who doesn’t know what he’s talking about expostulating as if he did...nobody, repeat, nobody prays to the Holy Mother...we invoke her name to pray for us, as we invoke the saints in the Mass to do the same...it’s a simple matter of seeking help to approach divinity...if you don’t need help to speak to the divine, bully for you...but you shouldn’t go about spreading misinformation while you do it...

From the Roman Catholic Church I bring you prayers to Mary:

Hail Mary Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Memorare Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, We fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins my Mother; to thee do we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer them. Amen.

The Angelus V- The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. R- And she conceived by the Holy Spirit. (Hail Mary....) V- Behold the handmaid of the Lord. R- Be it done unto me according to thy word. (Hail Mary....) V- And the Word was made Flesh. R- And dwelt among us. (Hail Mary....) V- Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. R- That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. LET US PRAY: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that, we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His Passion and Cross, be brought to the glory of His Resurrection through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church

2676 This twofold movement of prayer to Mary has found a privileged expression in the Ave Maria:....

2677 Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death: By asking Mary to pray for us, we acknowledge ourselves to be poor sinners and we address ourselves to the "Mother of Mercy," the All-Holy One.

...as for segments of the RCC studying Mary...you have some sort of point to make...?

It is idolatry as I think we've illustrated above. We are taught by Christ to pray to Him or God...never Mary. Mary is not the All-Holy One. She is blessed among women. Only Jesus fits the description of All Holy One.

This is what the Bible says about how the Holy Spirit and Jesus are already praying for us. Why is the Holy Spirit praying for us? Because we don't know how to pray as we should. No mention of Mary in Romans, or the Bible, in this capacity.

Romans 8:26-39 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36Just as it is written, “FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”

37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

More Christians walk this earth that venerate Mary than Christian that don’t. And it just happens to be the earliest Christians that have been around for the last 2,000 years. As far as Tradition, the teachings of Jesus Christ were being taught BEFORE A WORD WAS WRITTEN ABOUT HIM. End of subject. Sola Scriptura is a fraud.

Then that means there are a lot of misguided people praying to Mary.

You're saying the Word is a fraud when it says it is God-breathed?? Tradition, as defined in the RCC, cannot make that claim.

But, hey...thanks for playing.

In the Religion forum, on a thread titled Transgender priest to preach at National Cathedral, ealgeone wrote: So when I see the RCC make the claims it does regarding Mary, which have evolved over about an 1800 year time period, and are continuing to evolve, the papacy itself, indulgences, etc, and measure those against the Bible.....yes I call them out as being made up as there isn't any scriptural support for these. And you are shown to be wrong, again and again. Our Lord did NOT give us the Holy Writ, He appointed the Apostles. Under the guidance of the Paraclete, they and their successors wrote and compiled Holy Writ. They also built the traditions that support the Great Commission given them by Our Lord. You deny the very essence of the faith when you deny the Sacraments - all of which are clearly Biblical.

Homework assignment: do we word study of tradition in the New Testament and let me know what you find out. Then, do a study of the evolution of the teachings on mary.

Remember...context is key.

And each one their own final arbiter of what the Word says.

As is the Catholic Church as well. It's the same.

Not at all. One voice versus many. And that voice chosen by Our Lord and guided by the Paraclete.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

You might not like it, but you are just another denomination out of a number of denominations.

And your guys say they are right. The other guys say they are right.

That doesn’t mean we cannot ascertain who is closer to being right — the Catholic Church over the Episcopal Church any day of the week, in my opinion.

But, we can’t just group everybody into one group without being honest about their differences. That is good for your own position, because one item of unfairness makes one question whether the person is being fair elsewhere.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John 1

John was not talking about the written word.

“You might not like it, but you are just another denomination out of a number of denominations.”

The original though, and with an unbroken history of devotion to the Word. That schism after schism happened, and yet happen, is true. That Our Lord founded One, Holy and Apostolic Church is also true. There really is one True Church padre. And I think you know that.

Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem;
Creatorem caeli et terrae.

Et in Jesum Christum,
Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum;
qui conceptus est
de Spiritu Sancto,
natus ex Maria virgine;
passus sub Pontio Pilato,
crucifixus, mortuus, et sepultus;
descendit ad inferos;
tertia die resurrexit a mortuis;
ascendit ad caelos;
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis;
inde venturus est
iudicare vivos et mortuos.

Credo in Spiritum Sanctum;
sanctam ecclesiam catholicam;
sanctorum communionem;
remissionem peccatorum;
carnis resurrectionem;
vitam aeternam. Amen.

In English:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary,
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
he will come again
to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen
