Islamic prayers to be held at the Vatican

For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Francis issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas, Peres, and Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders, a statement released by Peres’s spokesperson said, according to the Times of Israel.

Holy See officials on Friday said the evening prayers would be a “pause in politics” and had no political aim other than to rekindle the desire for Israeli-Palestinian peace at the political and popular level, according to the Associated Press.

Low expectations

The Vatican will broadcast a live feed of the event to viewers across the world.

However, expectations for the event should be kept low, according to Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the custodian of Catholic Church property in the Holy Land.

[No-one should think] “peace will suddenly break out on Monday, or that peace is any closer,” AP reported him as saying.

On Friday, the Pope met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and discussed ways of promoting peace and stability in Asia the Vatican said in a statement.

Not a good precedent, even if well-meant.

Isn’t this equal to a symbolic conquering of the site of the prayers?

“At the Vatican” where? Not in St. Peter’s or another consecrated space, I trust.

This is opening the door to evil. Or maybe it was always open?

It doesn’t matter. Wherever a Muslim is allowed to conduct a prayer, the area is considered conquered and must be fought for.

In their minds, Muslims now believe even St. Peter’s seat is theirs for the taking.

The Pope Just Invited Islam Into The Vatican, Christians Aghast

According to a recent Times of Israel report, Islamic and Jewish representatives will join Pope Francis for an interfaith event Sunday at the Vatican. Israeli President Shimon Peres confirmed the news following a visit to his country by the Catholic leader last week.

Pope Francis invited representatives of the two faiths – Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas – to the prayer summit, which will focus on peace among the often embattled monotheistic religions.

The leaders will recite applicable passages from their respective holy books.

Peres confirmed the delegation representing Israel will include influential citizens from the Jewish, Muslim, and Druze communities. Abbas will reportedly likewise include Christians in his delegation.

Out of respect for Jewish religious culture, the gathering will not be held in a venue dedicated to prayer but in an unadorned garden at the Vatican. Viewers around the world will be able to witness the interfaith event via a live broadcast.

Marking the first time Islamic prayer will be held at the Catholic palace, many question the propriety of hosting leaders of a faith that teaches the conversion or slaughter of nonbelievers.

A sense of disbelief was evident in a series of Twitter posts Friday afternoon:

The Pope is not a leader, he only mirrors most of the rest of Catholicism.

Let’s see how receptive Francis and his enablers are to Islam when its adherents spill blood in the Vatican. At the very least, expect Abbas and his escorts to carefully monitor the ventilation system.

Yuck! His Holiness should read the Koran all about subjugation g or killing Christians , Jews, other innocent people. Respectfully, this is ungood. There is nothing equivalent or holy at all about Islam in particular. It is uniquely hostile to us and just about everyone else on rock Three. The Church should not be seen as affording it any legitimacy or respect. A Confusing signal to the Christian faithful.

This will of course be reciprocated with the Holy Father reciting the Lord’s Prayer from atop the Kaba in Mecca....NOT!

It’s why it should have been alarming when Bergdahl’s father gave that Islamic prayer at the White House. He, symbolically, gave the entire United States to the Muslims and it’s what they will eventually get around to fighting for.
