Homosexuality? De facto unions? "Time to open up to diversity," says Italian archbishop

Yesterday, the Archbishop of Lucca (Tuscany, Italy) received a group of religion journalists for his annual chat, and the talk was moderated by a famous Vaticanist in Italian public television and radio network RAI, Raffaele Luise.

The evening concluded with a debate in depth on the matter of homosexuality. Both Luise and the archbishop praise, in substance, the opening of the Church regarding gays and de facto couples. Particularly for Luise, it is necessary on this theme, "a cultural revolution, that contemplates the fact that homosexuality is not a deviancy, but a human attitude, and not just that, considering that almost 500 natural species display homosexuality." "The new paradigm - says bishop Castellani - is that every diversity is richness. In my life as a parish priest, I saw and lived so many situations [and he describes a few]; and I am convinced that the time has come for Christians to open up to diversity."

The Catholic Church has always taught that homosexual conduct is gravely sinful, and always will.

Many species also harbor theleukemia virus. It's natural.

However, this kind of "natural" has nothing to do with the moral reality known as Natural Law; and any Catholic with more than a 9th grade education, should know that.

“They” are the large number in hierarchy who have gone soft on homosexuality. The problem is their teachings and thoughts get back to young students.

A small number are no doubt in violation of their vows, but --- this is what's dangerous-- a much larger number would rather just keep quiet and ignore Catholic Biblical/Natural Law doctrine in general, in hopes it will go the same way as, for instance, the doctrine against usury; or contraception; or Just War; or artificial reproduction technologies: still "there" in the books, but no longer taught or defended by the clergy.

It's the silence that does the most damage.
