As much as I have a definite disagreement with Mormons, this is truly terrifying. Britain is a FASCIST country.

Indeed. It is on such places as the RF here that Mormonism is exposed as a fraud , but the government has no business penalizing what one theologically believes, though they can prevent actions based on it in some cases. Which is due to the gov. itself being based on beliefs, which reflects that of the Founders and the electorate.

Indeed. It is the antithesis of freedom of religion and speech.

Oh the secular courts will leave Mohammedanism alone. You can bank on that.

Exactly. Mormonism(as errant and cultish as I believe it is) is a relatively easy target for the atheists to go after. I believe this is a warmup for them before they head towards bigger targets.

It seems like it would be very similar to prosecuting the Mormon church. “Prove that the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet Mohammed and dictated the Koran!” Heck, prove Mohammed even existed.

Joseph Smith is a well-documented figure in recent American history, at least, no matter what one thinks of his religion.

Boy, was my spelling off. “The” UK Supreme Court. “Rendering” it a religion.

The perilous trail of legalism versus religion leaves me to voice that famous warning mantra; "First they came for the Mormons ..."

Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) German Protestant Pastor & Theologian;
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

First the UN demands the Catholic Church change its doctrines, and now the UK wants to arrest the head mormon for teaching about Adam and Eve (though from what I understand the mormon church doesn't teach creatio ex nihilo).

Add to this all the laws and movements against circumcision and kosher slaughter and we're all headed somewhere very nasty, and very dangerous.

I do not find Mormon teachings credible and I don't think they bear much critical scrutiny.

Well; I know someone who DOES and she's not scrutinized them at all!

Right, restornu???

It’s not a fraud if they believe it.

Could it be, however, a fraud if they DON'T believe it, and STILL push it?

Do you want your government deciding what your church can teach or not teach?

Ours does now; by threat of revocation of non-taxable organization status.

He is citing the matter of tithing as being fraudulent because it is based on untrue religious precepts, used to obtain tithes comprising 10 percent of church members’ incomes.

Then the LDS church is doing a VERY poor job of collecting.

To be "Temple Worthy" one MUST tithe a 'full' tithe: 10% or more.

And follow some OTHER rules.

Only about 15% or so of ALL Mormons are worthy enough.

And, if you ain't worthy, you do NOT end up being with God the Father for eternity.

Temple Recommend Questions

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

5 Do you live the law of chastity?

7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?

10 Are you a full-tithe payer?

11 Do you keep the Word of Wisdom?

12 Do you have financial or other obligations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?

Basically, the court is claiming Mormon religious beliefs are fraud.

Oh?

I would hope the 'court' is neutral; merely the agent bringing the two parties together.

They would rather have the status quo then to honor God and stand up for the truth.

Most people would rather be praised into Hell than rebuked into Heaven.
