Pope Francis is the first ever from the Americas, an austere Jesuit intellectual who modernized Argentina’s conservative Catholic church. Known until Wednesday as Jorge Bergoglio, the 76-year-old is known as a humble man who denied himself the luxuries that previous Buenos Aires cardinals enjoyed. He came close to becoming pope last time, reportedly gaining the second-highest vote total in several rounds of voting before he bowed out of the running in the conclave that elected Pope Benedict XVI.

“Humble Intellectual”... Generally an oxymoron but from what I’ve read, it may be an accurate description of this Pope.

From what I’ve heard, he is in to “social justice”. I fear he become a Robin Hood and redistributor of wealth — in other words, expect a tag team of the Catholic Church, and the Socialist Democrats.

Please convince me I’m wrong....

His vision of social justice is the correct one: justice proceeds from individuals living the moral and ethical principles of Christianity and practicing charity and concern for those they come into contact with. He doesn’t seem to believe that all good things flow from the government, and in fact was known for his opposition to Marxism.
