Will Obama’s Catholics Realize What They Have Done?
Courageous Priest ^ | November 12, 2012 | Fr. John Hollowell:

Posted on 11/13/2012 3:40:27 PM PST by NYer

First click here to watch a classic scene from the movie Brave Heart.

By Fr. John Hollowell: Brave Heart is obviously a classic. In the film, Robert the Bruce, the dashing young man from the video above, betrays William Wallace for money, lands, and titles. He regrets it after looking into Wallace’s eyes and seeing the wreckage that his decision has on his country.

I firmly believe that when Catholic hospitals are closing, when priests are being arrested for not marrying Adam and Steve, when our country starts aborting children with tax money, when the Catholic Church is completely turned on and the movement by secular atheists to annihilate the Church begins in full force, then the utterly horrendous, morally bankrupt nature of the voting practices of the cafeteria Catholics will finally be realized, and a lot of Catholics who voted for Obama will say the same thing Robert Bruce said above:

“Money, lands, titles, power..nothing…those pro-life Catholics fight for something that I’ve never had, and I took it from them when I betrayed them and I saw it in their faces on the battlefield, and it’s tearing me apart.”

Indeed, the history of the English Reformation is instructive. The bishops line up behind the king. Even the leaders of the pilgrim of grace believed the king. The professionals sold out, some because they were with Cranmer and some because they hope to turn the king. The American Church seems to be as confused. The Bishops are meeting in Baltimore and back to doing what they have done for years, pass resolutions on the economy and the like, rather than regroup to resist obama’s secularization of the social services. I am afraid that some will be co-opted by the President. I could not believe that Dolan would not use the simple expedient of inviting neither candidate to the Al Smith dinner.

I think Dolan knows he's got to do things differently and that everything has changed in a very basic way. On another level, he obviously still enamored of the idea that he can make some sort of gentleman's agreement with the Devil.

Whether intellectually knowing things have changed will overcome his desire to play the role of "Kim, little friend of all the world", remains to be seen.

.And we know the mother tongue and birth nationality of these “Catholics”.

Do tell?

What "mother tongue" and "birth nationality" do you think "we" know?

If you wish not to be misunderstood, you should write clearly.

Not all Catholic’s from these states voted for Obama.

Nor did all Protestants, or all Jews, or all Buddhists ...

Large chunks of the people who did vote for the Kenyan Antichrist are to be found in those states, though

Dear Father....where do you think many of these catholics got the notion that abortion is not an issue, but a “living wage” is?.....
These are the social justice folks.

They listen to sermons preached by social justice priests and nuns.
Who heard it from their social justice bishop.

I see Catholics believing more like protestants everyday

Or mainline Protestants becoming more like Rome, who fosters the nominalism you reject by treating even overtly liberal nominal members as members in life and in death, even notorious public sinners who are sppsd to be excommunicated (Ted K. etc.). Meanwhile those who most distance themselves from here are substantially more conservative.

Here's what happened:

You made a snarky comment containing thinly veiled ethnic bigotry.

You got called out on it.

Now you're embarrassed.

And that's good. You should be.

Just drop it ... it's not going to get any better for you.

Now you're embarrassed.And that's good.You should be.

First of all.."ArrogantBustard";interesting name, but your spelling needs work.OK,listen carefully...I'll use as few multisyllabic words as possible so you'll understand.

There are many, many people in this country getting government cash. Many deserve it because they worked for it and/or they're truly disabled.I,myself, fall into the "worked for it" category;Army pay as well as having paid into Social Security for 40+ years. As a result I get your basic Social Security retirement check. No military pension,however..I didn't serve nearly long enough.

However, more than a few..probably *many*...do *not* deserve it.Of that large group of people a very noticeable percentage are just as white, just as home grown and just as fluent in English as am I.But,OTOH,a noticeable percentage of these undeserving ones aren't nearly as home grown and not nearly as fluent in English as am I.These are the people...white,black,brown,yellow,red,Cleveland-born,Toronto-born,Tijuana-born...that I refer to as "parasites".You feel free to claim otherwise if you wish. You're entitled to your own opinion but not to your own facts.

"Embarrassed"? Thanks for the chuckle."Bigotry"? Are you sure you're in the right place? Sounds like the DUmpsterKids might be more your style.

Have a nice life!

Dear ArrogantBustard,

The facts that may help inform the postings of the other poster is that Hispanic Catholics voted for the anti-Christ at a rate of 75% or 76%. Non-Hispanic white Catholics voted for Gov. Romney at a figure of 56% - 59%.

So, yes, many native-born, English-speaking American Catholics are blameworthy in this election. In my mind, voting for the anti-Christ was the matter of mortal sin. But most white Catholics are not guilty of this monstrous crime. I imagine the number of blameworthy white Catholics falls even more when you factor in behaviors like Mass attendance.

Hispanic Catholics who voted for the anti-Christ are blameworthy, are guilty of this great crime. As a population, they voted for the anti-Christ at the rate of 3 - 1.

If Hispanic Catholics voted in a similar pattern as non-Hispanic white Catholics, Gov. Romney would have likely won election.

It is more than reasonable to say that the increase in size of the Hispanic voting population, ESPECIALLY Hispanic Catholics (Hispanic Protestants vote less strongly for the Party of Satan) has made it increasingly difficult to defeat the presidential candidates of the Party of Satan. There is some thought that Texas - yes, Texas - may go blue in the 2016, or at the latest, the 2020 presidential election.

Will that happen? I don't know.

However, the old truisms that Hispanics should be more naturally inclined to the Republican Party because they are more socially-conservative appears to be false. From what I've read, Hispanics often come from countries and cultures where folks accept bigger rather than smaller government. Bigger government is antithetical to social conservatism. As well, in the United States, Hispanics now have an illegitimacy rate of 53%.

To me, that's sort of a quickie look at just how truly socially-conservative a population is. I don't want to hear about “traditional values” and “family values” from folks who have over half their babies without the benefit of marriage.

Despite whatever religious observances people may make, American is now a majority pagan nation, and Hispanics are more pagan than the nation as a whole. Blacks even more so.

This whole business is a fine example of how to make statistics tell whatever story you want.

Perhaps we should blame the Blacks and Asians.

No, let's blame the women.

I know: let's blame the kids.

No, it's education. (So much for the idea that going to college turns people into liberals.)

Isn't this fun?

today’s Catholic vote is the best that it has ever been,

An opinion which dismisses facts and that is no surprise coming from an obtuse genius like you.

Not opinion, voting history.

Republicans won 48% support from members of the Roman Catholic denomination.

That is one of the highest levels of republican support ever, from Catholic voters.

In 10 and 20 years, conservatives can look back on these as the good old days when it comes to getting support from the Catholics, I wonder how the Catholic vote will be affecting Texas by then?

Dear ArrogantBustard,

I don’t really have a problem breaking it out demographically.

If the goal is to assign blame, one can say accurately that nearly every black voter is to blame for helping to re-elect the anti-Christ. Similar statements may be reasonably fashioned from other demographic facts that are known.

If you want to understand what happened, it's pretty important to determine which communities are more morally-diseased than others, because, make no mistake, our country is morally-diseased, some communities have it worse than others, and voting for the Party of Satan is an unmistakable symptom.

If you want to try to figure out any sort of path to the future, knowing which groups have higher percentage of guilty parties is also important.

Regarding Hispanics, here is an interesting article that explains at greater depth why Hispanics aren’t going to become Republicans any time soon, aren’t going to favor limited government, and aren’t even pro-life, pro-family, or even particularly entrepreneurial. It’s the subject of a thread on FR, but I figured I’d just give the link to the actual article:

http://super-economy.blogspot.com/2012/11/why-hispanics-are-natural-democrats-and_12.html

Pointing these things out isn’t racist or otherwise evil. It’s just what is.

I’m not so sure they’ll realize the damage they’ve done. The Catholics I know who love Obama believe they are the sophisticated ones, unlike the silly bleating pro-lifers who ‘only care for the baby before it’s born’, and those religious nuts who truly believe that the Bible teaches against homosexuality. Those ‘upper class’ Catholics believe that the people who live in “Jesusland”, mostly in the South, of course, are a bunch of hayseeds, and they do NOT want to be associated with them.

Oh yes ... I know them far too well. That mindset matches with the pope's admonition in this week's Wednesday address: "The practical atheism of those who say they are Christian but live as if God does not exist is a greater threat than actual atheism".
