Catholic and Baptist leaders react to Obama's gay marriage support

Leaders of the nation's two largest religious denominations are expressing distress and sadness at President Barack Obama's newly announced support for gay marriage.

New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who heads the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, says Obama's remarks "undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society." He adds, "The people of this country, especially our children, deserve better."

The Rev. Bryant Wright, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, predicted that voters will hold Obama accountable for what Wright calls "a calculated, politically expedient decision that completely ignores the biblical foundation of marriage."

But in the ABC interview, Obama linked his decision to his faith in Jesus Christ and the Golden Rule, which he paraphrased as: "Treat others the way you would want to be treated.

...”So, what’s next?

Legalized ...
Polygamy?
Group marriage?
Incestuous marriage?
Pedophilic marriage?
Bestial marriage?
Necrophilic marriage?”...

All of the above...

My main concern with the “one and done” idea is that the fix is in through the Spanish vote counters and he is free to say and do whatever he wants.

This announcement, after consultation with his trusted teenage advisor, gains him no votes. He already had the homosexual vote and this might move some of the supposed conservative dim voters away.

I'm utterly against gay "marriage". From a religious point of view this is not a marriage as marriage is divine union of God with woman and man. From a sociological stand point, it is also not a marriage which is a fixed union for procreation and for raising of children.

If gay folks want to have a government civil union, so bet it. But "marriage", no.

I beg to differ, with Obama coming out yesterday in support of gay marriage, he pretty much has drven away any last conservative Dems away.

This article will be of interest to you. By Michelle Malkin, which came out this week:

I stand by my “one and done” position.

Thanks for the mention of the Bohemian Grove. Never heard of it before. Is it now a haven for homosexuals?

Thanks for the ping.

But in the ABC interview, Obama linked his decision to his faith in Jesus Christ and the Golden Rule...

Linking the name of our Savior to sinful behavior is blasphemy, the only unpardonable sin.

FWIW, I wouldn't get to excited about the RC's getting on board in the fight against the homosexual agenda. The last polling I saw has them split 50-50 between Pubs and Rats. Remember this follows the assault on birth control and abortificents. If they won't come over in big numbers after that it's unlikely they will do much about this.

Born Again Evangelical Christians will have to do the heavy lifting to save our country and culture.

> let individuals, churches and other private entities
> decide what a legitimate family looks like. I tend to
> favor the latter.

The problem with this is that the meddling busybodies will use government to force those who do NOT recognize such unions as legitimate, to do so.

If you’re an insurance company, you will be forced to insure behaviors with known health issues without being allowed to charge more for such policyholders.

If you are a church or parochial school, you will be forced to refrain from teaching that such behaviors are sin.

If you own an apartment building, you will be forced to rent to such couples or groups even if it offends you or the rest of your tenants.

Allowing such “marriages” does NOT create a freer society. On the contrary, it limits even more of your freedoms. The freedom of association. The freedom to hire and fire, buy or sell, based on your character judgements.

And, of course, your freedom of speech will be greatly compromised. If you see a couple or group expressing sexual intimacy in public, and you express any displeasure with it, you will be cited as a criminal.

It’s all about selfishness and self-fulfillment — not about Christ.

Maybe he doesn’t know the Bible too well and is not familiar with the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah for this reason!

The one and only unpardonable sin is a sin against the Holy Spirit.

I may be wrong in doing this, but Obama’s using Jesus to justify homosexual marriage has gone too far. Right or wrong, I’m going to start praying daily that God will bring down Obama - one way or the other. I believe Obama is like Pharaoh - his heart has been hardened for destruction.

Here is the definition of marriage according to Jesus Christ. Apparently, Barry Hussein the genius missed it.

From Matthew 19:4-6

Not being a genius like Barry, I see "male and female" in the definition of "husband and wife".

Then there's this from the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 1 verses 23 to 31.

Not a lot of wiggle room there.

Depends on what types, the more traditional minded Catholics will be there with the Evangelicals to also do the heavy lifting. The other types are CINOS, whom you do need to worry.

The other types represent a majority of your church. Your church makes noise, but it's members don't walk the faith they claim. Obama is not an idiot. He knows the only ones he won't get because of his positions on contraception, abortificents and now homosexual marriage are Born Again Christians. He never had anything close to a majority of our votes from the get go, so he hasn't lost anything.

Look at the states that have some form of legalized homosexual unions they are on the west coast, northeast, and some in the midwest. Most of these states have large RC populations. They are definitely not majority Born Again Christian areas.
