Franken added insult to injury by writing his request to Ashcroft on a letterhead from Harvard University's Shorenstein Center for Press and Politics at the Kennedy School of Government, where he was a fellow during the spring term, despite the fact that the school never gave permission for the use of their letterhead and apparently were anything but pleased by having been drawn into Franken's attempted scam.

My question is - Why did Harvard have this idiot as a fellow? If I were a Harvard alum I would be calling for an investigation into why Franken was a fellow and who recruited him to be a fellow.

Why is this getting no press?

Could be media bias....or...it is a joke "or hoax" being pulled by Franken. His book is in stores Friday. What better publicity.

And, I know most Freepers don't get Franken's humor, but I find him funny.

From Franken’s letter: "Did a young woman every think you were homosexual just because you wouldn't have sex with her? Be serious! Were you ever taunted and made to feel bad or 'uncool' because of your choice? But most of all, be real. Kids can sense a phony a mile away."

That is funny.

I agree. If you're going to pick a fight with someone, the person I would not criticize is the U.S. Attorney General. Pretty dumb on Franken's part.

OKSooner heard what heard except he's got the guy that got him maybe. I hadn't heard it was Kilmeade exclusively. I heard it was either O'Reilly, Shephard Smith, or Kilmeade. Must've been Kilmeade.

That is funny.

The latest trend in comedy is to be rude for laughs. Least Common Denominator stuff.

I see nothing wrong with criticizing government figures if they deserve it but I know what you mean that it's dumb to be fraudulant in criticing the top prosecuter in the US.

"...My biggest regret is sending the letter on Shorenstein Center stationery..." Franken wrote.

Am I the only person to note this attempt at weaseling out of the apology? As if he's not really sorry about taking the action at all, he's sorry it was on certain stationary and it seems to me that he's only sorry he got caught.

This seems to be a perfect time to quote P.J. O'Rourke
"At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child---
Miserable, as all spoiled children are,
Unsatisfied, Demanding, Ill-disciplined, Despotic and Useless.
Liberalism is a philosophy of Sniveling Brats".

Sounds like a fine and rather articulate description of Al Franken to me.
