The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need by providing homes close to a loved one during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There are currently 31 houses located on the grounds of every major military medical center and several VA medical centers. These houses will play a critical role in caring for casualties from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Donations will be used to help meet the cost of lodging for a family whose loved one was injured in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. There is a limit to the number of families who can stay in a Fisher House and program is committed to help provide lodging for families who must find commercial lodging, because the Fisher House is full. |

Good Morning LaDivaLoca! Another fantastic thread! You really have put a lot of work into it and the results are great! Good morning to our military and good morning to the whole Canteen crew.
Warm up exercise for today . . . . .
(Special "Rain" Joke for Kathy)
A preacher and his flock at a very poor church in the hills of Tennessee took up collections,
baked cakes and washed cars for months to get enough money to buy paint for the church exterior
which was bare and weatherbeaten. Finally they went to Walmart and bought enough paint
for the job and all joined together on a Saturday morning to complete the job. When they
were about half finished they realized that they were going to run out of paint before
finishing. The preacher said, "Its a water base paint, just thin it down with water." They continued
painting and thinning until the color started losing its depth and when they finally finished it
was dark green at the top, light green in the middle and a very light green (almost white) at
the bottom. The preacher and his flock were standing on a nearby hill admiring their work
when a dark cloud appeared and the heavens opened up with a deluge of rain which washed
all of the newly applied paint off the church. The preacher was in tears and the congregation
was stunned at all the hard work they had done for nothing.
Just then there was a huge lightening flash followed by the roll of thunder and a loud voice from
the heavens rang out, "REPAINT, REPAINT AND THIN NO MORE."

No offense to the Egyptians but those are the grossest pancakes I've ever seen. What are the purple and green things supposed to be?

Today's FEEBLE attempt at humor:
After Quasimodo's death, the bishop of the Cathedral of Notre Dame sent word through the streets of Paris that a new bell ringer was needed.
The bishop decided that he would conduct the interviews personally and went up into the belfry to begin the screening process.
After observing several applicants demonstrate their skills, he had decided to call it a day. Just then, an armless man approached him and announced that he was there to apply for the bell ringer's job.
The bishop was incredulous. "You have no arms!". "No matter," said the man. "Observe!" And he began striking the bells with his face, producing a beautiful melody on the carillon. The bishop listened in astonishment; convinced he had finally found a replacement for Quasimodo.
But suddenly, rushing forward to strike a bell, the armless man tripped and plunged headlong out of the belfry window to his death in the street below. The stunned bishop rushed to his side.
When he reached the street, a crowd had gathered around the fallen figure, drawn by the beautiful music they had heard only moments before. As they silently parted to let the bishop through, one of them asked, "Bishop, who was this man?".
"I don't know his name," the bishop sadly replied, "but his face rings a bell."

Try not to work too hard! Looks like you've already done a lot of work today.
There is supposed to be some special hieroglyphs at Abydos. They seem to show a Helicopter(top left), maybe a tank (top right) and a plane (right side midway).
They are perfect for this thread (even if it's a hoax)!

"Are you still on vacation or back to the grind?"
Paid vacation until 7/29. Then I "break the news" that I'm not coming back.
Too many benefits cut and a pay cut under the new ownership.
Too many safety violations unresolved.
Actually I'm devoting my "free time" to my internet business
with my partner in Las Vegas.
We've been in business since Nov '97 and have just now
started to recover from the effects of 9/11 on Las Vegas tourism.
So now-a-days I can devote more time to my business
AND my Coast Guard Auxiliary duties.
Life is good!
