Actually I think stuff like that gives this place a special character.
Casual familiarity and inside jokes are part and parcel of the feeling of community here. Members are all too happy to fill one in on the stories behind the jokes, and link to past threads that allow one to see the depth of FR. Before you know you feel like you've been here forever.

I wish all the people with the personal attacks would stay on DU where it's more appropriate. Most of the threads here are a higher level of discussion

I never launched a personal attack. First, the other freeper made it personal. Second, if you think my saying that the other person's opinions are without logic, reason or foundation when they in fact are without logic, reason or foundation and when the poster (me) demonstrates with examples and logic, reason and facts they are void ofa any reason is a personal attack I fear you have no idea what a personal attack is compared to an attack on someone's argument.

This poster mistakenly attacked me personally by attributing someone else's personal attack to me. My comment that he couldn't read was a mild rebuke for his attack to me.

I certainly agree that the estate tax is totally unfair, but what's that got to do with the subject of this thread (mobile weapons lab)?

Sorry, but the other poster left some false crap about the estate tax as well as other stuff that was false. Once that was done I couldn't let is stand and had to address it. For him to be given a pass merely because he threw it out on anothr thread will let him and others think he is correct.
