How Can Anyone Say We're Rushing to War?

I've been telling you lately about these libs who think our problems with the world and the UN stem from the fact that we have not participated in the Kyoto treaty, the world court, etc. Lo and behold, Joe Lieberman said exactly that at the Democratic winter meeting. He also mouthed the claim that we're in a "rush to war." Lieberman supported Bush's resolution against Saddam Hussein, but I'm not surprised he flipped, or that he blamed it on our rejection of these things aimed at destroying America's way of life.

Michael Ledeen's latest column exposes the wrong-headedness of the "rush to war" pap. Our delays will cost lives in battle. Ledeen writes that all the dictatorships in the Middle East have been given time to unite in a fight to keep us from liberating the people of Iraq and proving that a Muslim democracy can work. I'm going to take Monday off, because (I joked) things always happen when I'm away and I want the war to start. We have to regain some element of surprise, so we may not wait for the moonless nights we prefer, or may go when Powell's overseas.

I hoped for more from some of these liberals, but I can just repeat everything I've said about them before. There's nothing intellectually challenging or original about them. John Podhoretz writes in the New York Post that the left's actually working to bring back charges of McCarthyism! Their protests are like video from a 60s rally. They forget that the terrorists tried to kill 50,000 Americans - and succeeded in killing 3,000. Their heads are on backwards; they're even trying to repeat 1992 by claiming we're in a recession or depression and hoping for a poll drop after an Iraq war. Unreal!

Clinton Was Right Not to Seek UN Approval in Iraq and Kosovo

There's an ABC News companion story on this, about Iranians working in Iraq to hit us with acts of terrorism. Islamic Jihad, Al-Qaeda, Hamas and other groups are all in Iraq. Ansar al-Islam is laying in wait in northern areas. This is the bitter fruit of those who've sought to delay, delay, delay. We'll still win, but at what cost? This is why so many people are frustrated by the delays. Originally, Ledeen says, it would've just been us vs. Saddam; now it'll be a regional conflict - especially if they make the bogus claim of "imperialism" stick.

Ledeen suggests that putting General Tommy Franks in power will be a mistake, so we should empower an Iraqi government to make the point that free governments don't support terrorists. His point is that the war has widened because of all the delaying tactics - the exact opposite of what the supposed anti-war people claimed to want. Some of the delay has been necessary, because we needed to build up.

What annoys me is that we asked the UN for permission to defend ourselves. Clinton and Reagan and Thatcher were all right to just do what they had to do. Not to put these countries down, but who needs the Caribbean superpower of Belize - or Cameroon and Angola? You hope it's so we can kill off the UN? Fine, but why waste all this time? We didn't need Resolution 1441 , and now we're going to get yet another resolution? We've had 13 already! If there's going to be another vote, we'd better damn well know we're going to win it. Otherwise, just roll the tanks. We've waited too long, already.

Listen to Rush...
(...roll clips of Lieberman saying we're "rushing to war" after 12 years & 13 resolutions)
(...redo Lieberman, and talk about the lives we'll lose because of all these delays)
(...discuss Ledeen's column on the time we've given our regional enemies to unite)

We're "rushing to war" ...."acting unilaterally" ....."fighting only for oil" .....

Reality means nothing to these people. False and empty-headed slogans mean everything.

They forget that the terrorists tried to kill 50,000 Americans - and succeeded in killing 3,000.

They have not forgotten it. They just don't care. In fact, they condone 9-11 and try to justify the actions of those who planned and carried out the terrorism.

I dont see how anyone can call this a "rush to war". If we wait any longer were going to have to air drop walkers and depends in for our troops, the MRE's will have to contain a package of Gerital.
