Folks.

The issue is ENRON and WORLDCOM, corruption abound, no voice for LABOR, no extention for UI, raises for senators, anti-bankruptcy legislation for the poor, bail outs for corporations, I could go on and on...

It's not just an issue of techies getting screwed. The whole populace is getting screwed, outside of the billionares who are getting richer.

Tech jobs gone, manufacturing jobs gone. The jobs that are here are going to FOREIGNERS.

We continue to dump too much money into Defense. American's aren't making great wages any more, so taxes are severly low but the government keeps spending. MASSIVE DEBT MASSIVE DEBT MASSIVE DEBT MASSIVE DEBT MASSIVE DEBT MASSIVE DEBT

Bankruptcies, foreclosures....

Where are these new jobs going to come from ?? Medicine and hospitals?? Really? Who's going to pay for the medical bills so that one can make $30K as a med tech?

How many med tech jobs are there? Maybe it's law? God knows we don't have enough lawyers (roll eyes).

There are very few jobs I see left that can't be done by H1Bs or done by Mexicans, VERY FEW.

Service jobs, like mechanic, plumbers, garbage men, retail, McDonalds etc. are the wave of the future...but they will all be low paying jobs.

The sad thing is that the benefit of globalization is to bring about improved economies in the third world. But what good does that do us if the manufacturing and service jobs are already in those countries?? We don't gain at all from them becoming wealthy, not a bit. But CEO's and corporate home offices do, about 100 people per company?

Salaries are going to plummet, mark my words. Jobs are going to be scarce.And deflation or hyper inflation is going to hit us.

America will be made up of security people groping people for $100K a year, and minimum wage healthcare workers (nurses and doctors). But eventually, as security produces nothing, the security people will be moved into the minimum wage healthcare jobs which won't exist. At that point, we will have the very few political elites (and executives) and the masses of peasants eating the genetically modified food and drinking the polluted water. This is of course, my opinion, and is still a bit into the future...at least 3 months away I would guess.

Conseco files for Chapter 11, third largest bankruptcy ever in U.S.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Insurance and finance company Conseco, deep in debt and facing a federal investigation of its accounting practices, filed for Chapter 11 protection in the third-largest bankruptcy in U.S. history.

I had an interesting conversation last night with a gentleman I've known for about a year. We were discussing the issue of H1-B visas.
He mentioned that he was recently hired as a contractor by a firm in the Southeast and was put in a hiring position to assist with staffing a project. I believe the particular skill set for this project was AS400 & RPG. Apparently, one of the staffing firms that this company dealt with was heavily involved in the placement of H1-B's. Anyway, a resume came in one day and this paricular candidate had no RPG experience. He called the agency and inquired as to why this particular candidate had been submitted with no experience whatsoever in the skillset they were looking for. He said that within a few hours this guy's resume was resubmitted and now showed "3 years of RPG experience". He said fine, I'm going to give this guy a very basic test in order to ascertain his competency. Well, the guy did not know one single thing about RPG. LMAO. Don't ya love it.

He also mentioned that he had been contacted within the last week by a US congressman from Georgia. I can't remember his name, but they apparently have dealt with one another in the past. The congressman inquired as to whether H1-B's were adversely affecting our industry. He flat out told him that at his church alone he knew 10 people in IT that were out of work and that H1-B was a contributing factor to their circumstances. They also went into how this affected the US tax base, etc. etc.

Is it possible that some folks in Washington are finally wising up? It's nice to know that, at least, there is an apparent interest in what is happening in the technology sector in this country.

New Japanese Supercomputer Almost Five Times Faster Than Any in U.S.

(AP) - It's a machine so fast it performs more computations per second than there are stars in our galaxy. It's so large it's housed in a building the size of an aircraft hangar. Running 35.6 trillion calculations per second, the Earth Simulator is the fastest supercomputer in the world, almost five times faster than the next best one and as fast as the top 5 U.S. supercomputers combined.

Then stop bowing to the crippling myriad of Union organizations.

Protect domestic industries with tariffs. Fair Trade, not Free Trade.

And last (and certainly not Least): Give companies incentives to return/set up in the US - TAX RELIEF!

Give PEOPLE back their money with massive TAX REFORM. You'll see the economy boom like never before!

We don't need a massive, omnipotent govt. Less govt = less need to tax = more individual Freedoms.

Simple stuff...really, it is.
