From what I saw of the car on TV, its condition looked very poor--like it had never been waxed. Hadn't it formerly been a law enforcement vehicle?

Why joint ownership??

If they had to abandon it, or planned to abandon it to change vehicles, Osbourne could pick it up, clean it up and/or report it as a stolen vehicle.

Maybe the two perps were headed toward Jersey and were resigned to no more shootings when they knew the cops weren't going to deal (duh) and just were too tired. When was the plate number "first" given out??

Always said they were't "Supermen" and had to be tired and "getting stupid".

Think someone "scr**ed on them and they lost their safe harbor restover spot.

Retail KBB price is what a used car shop will at least have on the sticker. The separate KBB trade-in value is a better match to actual value. There is a good solid matket for used cars of this type in Trenton and values hold up pretty well, unless the car is a rust bucket or beaten to death.

Here is the information that was posted by Browardchad.

Bellingham has ties to the Wahhabi lobby of Northern Virginia in this 4/02 Weekly Standard report:

Wahhabis in the Old Dominion: What the federal raids in Northern Virginia uncovered.

A major personality on the ground in Virginia is an individual named Jamal Barzinji, whose office in Herndon was a major target of the raids. In 1980, he was listed in local public records as a representative of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), an arm of the Saudi regime with offices in Virginia. WAMY has been deeply involved in providing cover for Wahhabi terrorism. The 2002 entry in the U.S. Business Directory lists the president of the WAMY office in Annandale, Va., as Abdula bin Laden--the terrorist's younger brother.

Barzinji serves as a trustee and officer of the Amana Mutual Funds Trust, a growth and income mutual fund headquartered in Bellingham, Wash., conveniently near the Canadian border. Amana's board also includes Yaqub Mirza, a Pakistani physicist who shares Barzinji's Herndon office address and who is widely described as a financial genius. Another board member and tenant in the Herndon office is Samir Salah. He formerly ran a branch of Al-Taqwa in the Caribbean, heads a financial firm linked to Saar, and directs Dar al-Hijra, a mosque in Falls Church, Va., notable for hardline Wahhabi preaching. Salah is also deeply involved with Taibah International Aid Association, a Virginia charity with a Bosnian branch that is being investigated by authorities in Sarajevo.

This $250 car plus a tune up (This IS a Chevy Caprice, we're talking about...they WON'T die) still sounds right. Last year, we bought a 1990 Ford Ranger truck with 230K miles on it for $100....we put new tires and brakes on it, and the little thing has been a great, dependable mulch, furniture and Sea Doo Hauler for us.

Point is: It CAN be done for $250 :). Been to the auction lately?

I would buy a car for $250 but I would expect to spend quite a bit on tires and other things like you did ---but how does an unemployed homeless guy do that --unless he was a good mechanic. It depends on the body a lot, but usually if a car runs well you're going to have to give at least $500 no matter what it looks like.

I hate to say it, but I think the pair intended to shoot someone either in Hagerstown or Frederick, Maryland. Since they had already struck south of Washington toward Richmond, and since they liked to move around the D.C. area, it was only logical that they would next shift their attention to Baltimore, or Western Maryland and select a location for their next killing off of either I-95, I-270 or I-70.

This would be a reasonable thing for them to do if their goal was to terrorize the entire region -- as I think it was.

Um, the car cost a hefty $250.00.

If they really paid $250 for the car, then I would wonder even more about the reason for the co-ownership. Especially since it's reported Osborne is an illegal alien. Most illegal aliens can't use their names on their car's papers because they have no driver's licenses or Social Security numbers, they have to have the car entirely in someone else's name even if they paid every dime for it.

Somewhere it said that the perps passed out Muslim Group fliers.

Hope someone still has one in their wastebasket if the report is true.

Kelly says a 91 with 150K, fair condition, has a trade-in value of $575. I'm not sure the price they paid is a big issue - I suspect they wanted something that was nondescript, dependable and could be abandoned after use.

Oh, THAT's why all the reassuring words for illegal aliens "who come forward" - they new about the car by then, so it stands to reason they knew something about the Osborne guy.

His hiding out is very, very suspicious. An innocent person would have come forward.

To get a car that runs enough to use it to escape a crime scene, you're going to have to pay more than $250.

From various other reports, Muhammad is skilled in car repairs; his Islamic second wife was on record as owner of a car repair service in Tacoma. It was a backyard operation, and he ticked off neighbors with all the vehicles parked in the street -- not to mention the comings and goings at 2 and 3 a.m. -- a funny time to be repairing cars.

A neighbor thought he was dealing crack, and with the Caribbean connection, it's possible. It's not inconsistent with the Islamic influence, as long as your dealing with corrupt infidels, of course.

Other news stories, from California and Florida, also quote neighbors mentioning a group of guys always hanging out in his "garage"...

``We were looking for a white van with white people, and we ended up with a blue car with black people,'' said Washington, D.C., Police Chief Charles Ramsey, whose department ran the Caprice's license Oct. 3, just hours before a fatal shooting in Washington that has been tied to the sniper suspects, John Allen Muhammad, 41, and John Lee Malvo, 17.

Flint, Michigan is about 80 miles from Detroit where one of the Oregon cell members were picked up.

And forget about the SINGLE .223 casing that was found. (Sounds like a gift to a buddy!!)

None of the weapons found are compatible with that casing.

Don't ya just love the coincidences in all this!!

"BUSH MASTER",

"SURE SHOT AUTO",

"NEW JERSEY",

"GREENSVILLE SCHOOL" (that's a primary school next door to where Muhammed lived in Jamaica) and the kids were 9, 10 & 12.)

Maybe we're going to solve a couple of things here. It's a stretch but the MO definitely has some similarities.

I kind of discounted traceable al qaeda direction or sponsorship of this fellow, ... even though I was convinced of its influence on his madness, and his activities.

Now I think there is more "there" there than I imagined.

And wouldn't it be rich if this breaks the anthrax case...

This wasn't a cheap operation, I couldn't afford to do it and I work hard (not without looisng my livelihood and cashing all my assets in). I don't see how an unemployed drifter could do it.

It must have been "cash-for-cans" that he picked up in his shopping cart. < /sarcasm>
