Sept. 18 A bitter war between rival Maya city-states may have set the stage for the collapse of that once-great civilization, say scientists who translated recently found hieroglyphics on stone stairs in an ancient pyramid in Guatemala.

This west section of the steps was very graphic, said Fahsen. It says, blood flowed and skulls of the thirteen peoples of the Tikal place were piled up. The final glyphs describe the king of Dos Pilas doing a victory dance. But I only thought the white man did this kind of thing...

I have read about this before. It does seem to have stuck the Maya in the Human Sacrifice level of "civilization" and contributed to their eventual collapse. It puts a political aspect of the culture in competition with the politically correct environmental explaination of the collapse. Worldwide cultures seem to have advanced to this point and, failing to move beyond it, slide back into the mire.

"Waiting for them to blame this on us Jews."Nope, not the Jews. But rather, on the Aztecs!
I kid you not. On a tour of Chichen Itza long ago, our Mayan guide claimed that the Mayans didn't do human sacrifices until those bloody Aztecs conquered them and forced them to take part in this ugly practice against their will. I had to bite my tongue hard and keep from laughing, knowing a bit of basic Mesoamerican history myself.
So let's see here ..... these new Mayan glyphs show massive amounts of sacrificing going on in the 600's, yet the Aztecs didn't conquer the Mayans until what - about 800 years later? Someone's clock is a bit off, I guess.

Nahhhhh, the Aztecs were one of the lost tribes of the Joooooooooos...

I'm waiting for CAIR or maybe the Ayatollah to make the connection. They'll have Adam Shapiro do the press conference. I for one doubt it....it's hard to eat Mexican food and stay Jewish.

They'll blame it on the Republicans first.

I wonder what the Mormons have to say about this? I think they make a HUGE connection between Mesoamerican civilization (if that's what you want to call it) and the Jews.
Fairy tales, as far as Im concerned. These pyramids are just more Babel-type ziggurats.

Doesn't Mormon theology claim that there was a great war in the Western Hemisphere before Columbus arrived?
To: quebecois
Sorry. I am afraid I am not up on Mormon beliefs but I would be interested in finding out.
