September 13, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - U.S. Special Forces commandos already are secretly operating inside Iraq, The Post has learned.

Military sources said last night that Special Forces teams have been performing liaison and reconnaissance missions in Kurdish-controlled areas in Northern Iraq and in Shiite southern Iraq for several weeks as part of the first steps for a military offensive.

Kudos to the New York Post for reporting this. They need to dig even deeper and actually give us exact locations of our soldiers who are in harm's way. Perhaps also give a detailed description of the weapons that they carry, their capabilities, limitations, and what support they have on call, to include the amount of time that such support can be provided. Oh, and also their vulnerabilities.

It is extremely important that we know every little detail. We all have a need to know this highly sensitive information.

In case it isn't obvious, this is all sarcastic.

"If true"

It's true! Click on the link after the title and see for yourself. This is appalling.

I only said if true because only one paper posted this. Nothing has been verified and this could be a fabrication of sorts.

Grated a 20% chance, but a chance.

Like I said, if this is a true story though, time to fine and perhaps suspend this paper. Throw the law if possible at them
This is a time of war and this would be a breach of security.

To offer a contrarian view: I doubt there's anything in this article that Saddam doesn't already know. I'm sure he has agents inside the ethnic groups in question...it's the nature of the beast, and something our guys have certainly taken into account.

And they should send Eleanor Clift to jail. I realize she has nothing to do with this story, it's just a good place for her. Somebody should also slap some sense into her, ASAP.

I hope you're right. Looking at it from the perspective that it's not really a secret but only something that minitrue (ministry of truth) hath not deemed to be something that the amurricanpippleneedtoknow, it's actually kinda delicious. Sadamn doesn't want to admit he can't control activity within his borders, and he probably hasn't struck for fear of the massive counterstrike (hammerblow from the sky)awaiting him if he does. The demoratic/media complex doesn't say anything about it because they don't want to admit that they have no control over the debate, much less the war.

With a little luck we win before the New York Times is forced to admit we're engaged without their permission.

Nothing quite so arrogant and sanctimonious as a newspaper excercising it's perogatives while putting others in harm's way.

I must have read that title 30 times before it finally hit me! GI's, in fact that is the only reason I landed here, because I didn't know what a gis was. Damn I hate it when the day starts out like that.
