President Clinton's extraordinary leadership to increase funding for diabetes research exemplifies his dedicated commitment to find a cure for the millions who suffer from diabetes and its complications. In 1997, with the words "we cannot rest until we find a cure that will free our children from this disease," President Clinton set in place an unprecedented $2.4 billion federal commitment for diabetes research, treatment and education.

The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing at 7:00 p.m. For more information on the Gala, including tickets, please call Ms. Kathryn Davids, New York Chapter, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 381 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10016, (212) 689-2860, fax (212) 689-4038, or e-mail Kdavids@jdrf.org.

JDRF, the world's leading nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes-a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $600 million to diabetes research worldwide. In a typical year, 85 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and education about research. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. For more information, visit our website at http://www.jdrf.org, or call the New York Chapter at 212-689-2860.

How can he be "Man of The Year" when he doesn't even qualify as a man?

This could be tight scheduling for Bubba as Al-Qaeda will be honoring him as Man of the Year on September 11th.

President Clinton's extraordinary leadership to increase funding for diabetes research exemplifies his dedicated commitment to find a cure for the millions who suffer from diabetes and its complications.

I'll kiss James Carville's bottom if Bill Clinton gave anything significant in the way of his own personal money towards finding a cure for diabetes.

THis is a sick joke.

A man setting aside OUR MONEY, our tax dollars for research, does not make any SACRIFICE of his time and effort. THIS MUST SURELY BE A JOKE. I have never EVER heard of such a shallow reason for any award in my entire life.

Since they cannot write the "cost" of their time off the taxes, this will be another opportunity for everyone involved to write off the costs of their limos, tuxedos, gowns, hair stylists, cell phones. How do I get in on that racket?
