A big concern I have is that just because things are somewhat quiet re: terrorists, it just might be they are in the process of big planning against us. I have read from many reliable sources on the net ( as I'm sure many of you also did) that 9/11 was months and possibly a few yrs in the planning before it was implemented. Scary, indeed.

My gut feeling tells me that nothing is going to happen in any western country (except Israel, where the situation is ongoing) until the Son of Desert Storm begins.
I am sure that the terrorists are already equipped and capable of executing terrorism in the US and elsewhere on a small scale at any time they choose. But terrorist acts have much more value if we are shocked by them. Once the shock value is removed or lessened, yes it's still tragic, but life goes on. Ask a Brit or an Israeli.
Attacks on the west would lower support for the war and drive a wedge between the US and its allies. I suspect that any attack that does happen will not be limited to the US. I would think that any country not attacked, but a reluctant member of the coalition, would probably bolt immediately thinking that it would protect their country. They would be wrong.
There is no single force that can defend against the US military machine, so the terrorists want to avoid that kind of confrontation if at all possible, or at least for as long as possible. Better to let the US get Saddam. I'm sure they're pumping him for every resource that they can while they can, because once the bombs start raining down on Baghdad, they'll be racing across the desert headed for anywhere but Iraq.
Once the terrorists attack, I think they will continue to attack for as long as they can. They might even be madder because someone offed their sugar daddy.
