FORT STOCKTON, Texas (AP) — The body of a 4-year-old boy who was reported missing was found Friday on his family's property near Fort Stockton.
Pecos County Sheriff Cliff Harris said the body of Schyler Fain was discovered in the trunk of a car at the residence.
Investigators are trying to determine whether foul play was involved in the death.
The shoeless boy disappeared Monday morning from outside his grandparents' home.
That led to a search by dozens of volunteers on foot and horseback, with help from a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter.
This one does not pass the smell test. Among the searchers were off-duty guards from the local prison with their dogs. Every vehicle on the property was searched at least twice down to pulling trash out from under seats. They would not have failed to open a trunk lid. It is inconceivable that the same searchers with dogs who found the child today, missed it on Wed. and Thurs. It is telling that the official search was called off at 2 pm on Thursday and the child was found in a previously searched car on Friday.
My source tells me that a large contingent of TX Rangers and local cops escorted the child's mother and step-father for an interview yesterday. There were tips called in that point a suspicious finger in their direction. I hope the OA stays on top of this one until some answers are found.

NerdDad, I was born and raised in Ft. Stockton, so this strikes close to home.
I agree that if the Texas Rangers are involved, something is fishy here.
We'll see more on this.

Perhaps with 24-hour news available we're all just better informed than 25 years ago, so it feels that way.
I hope they find who did it and that it wasn't the parents.
Why is it that little Angels are being victimized?Why?
Because we have cheapened life.
Our laws allow innocents to be killed for convenience.
Our public schools do not teach that there is a God to whom we are answerable to.
Because our laws and our courts coddle the perpetrators of crimes against children,
promoting the false idea of "rehabilitation".
Punishment is not swift and sure - and permanent.
That's why.
Any FReepers have any other suggestions as to why?
I know it sounds brutal, but the last public execution (hanging) carried out in my resident county afforded twenty-three years without another capital offense.
Coincidence? No, today we have "sanitized" capital punishment by allowing so much time to pass so that there is no longer any association with the punishment to the brutality of the crime.
Capital punishment is/was intended to be a deterrant to crime. That means the general public who sanction the prescribed method of punishment should not be insulated from viewing executions, but in fact, be given that responsibility to witness the form of punishment. Executions witnessed by a select few for a crime many can hardly recall only serve to provide state sanctioned revenge and can offer no dererrant properties....

I've often said that "they"re welcome to call me and I'll be happy to "pull the switch" to end someone's sorry existence.
"Cruel and unusual punishment"?
Cruel and unusual punishment should only be considered death by mutilation or some slow and painful death. (Although, I have some feeling that maybe death SHOULD BE the same manner in which they took a life/lives)
As far as the "public" part of it:
I can't help but feel that it'd be VERY helpful in the deterrent of crime! To actually SEE someone who's guilty, die for the crimes he's committed would have to deter anyone but a rabid animal from committing similar violent crimes
