Saw the President's arrival in Moscow. I loved hearing the Star Spangled Banner played by a Russian band. As one who grew up during the worst of the Cold War, this relationship is still amazing to me!

Having been a child of the fifties -- Kruschev -- MAD --etc -- I was totally overwhelmed today when I saw our President be greeted with the Russian Army band playing the Star Spangled Banner. It just took my breath away - something I had never dreamed of, even during the Reagan administration.

I think President Bush was quite affected emotionally, too. It was an amazing moment of history, and I wonder if any newscasts showed it tonight?
