What occurs to me (and I've been off of FR for over a day, so this may have been discussed) is how differently the previous administration would have played this whole thing. They would have immediately been berating the airling industry, and probably the public at large, for not heeding their warnings. They would have said that they did all that they could and it was not their fault that the airliners were more interested in their stock holders than their customers, wah, wah, wah...

The thing running through my head - armed pilots, armed passengers would have made the difference.
As it stands, no one who was actually at the sharp end was prepared. So much for all of the agents and analysis - the most sensible preventative, arming the pilots, was never allowed.
